Not sure the current status, seems like the geniuses are still weighing Adelson dollars vs. compromising our civil liberties.

Awesome! I wonder if non-US people can sign too? lol Would be funny considering the benefit to the international poker community.

I tweeted Jason Somerville about this petition while he was streaming just now, with like 7k ppl watching. He basically said online petitions dont do **** and are a waste of time, also admitting he didn't really know what he was talking about, but convinced people in his channel it was just a waste of time.

it might be a waste of time, it might not be. Whatever. It takes less than 1 minute. Its not like you have to go hold a sign up on a busy street corner in the middle of winter for hours at a time.

smh, dude. I'm not gonna lie. That pissed me off

Yeah that's pretty irritating. Classic selfish/short sighted mentality - "things are good for me right now (because of Twitch).....no need to think about or put energy towards anything else, no matter how easy or how good of a cause."

The petition might not mean much...but if the decision makers actually do happen to see that the online poker movement can't even come up with the minimum threshold of support from its hard core supporters...what does that say? I think it makes the politician say, "**** it, no one really cares, might as well take the campaign money and not go out on a limb to help those lazy ass holes."

signed and so did my gf

Even I signed!

So Jason admits not knowing exactly what he was talking about and still influenced 7000 people not to sign? He doesn't understand that popularity brings power, which brings responsibility.

To be fair, he wasn't saying not to sign it. He was just saying its probably a waste of time and wont accomplish anything. Then a handful of people in the chat started repeating what he said.

I understand if he's busy playing poker and can't put some thought into the situation, but then please just ignore the tweet and don't spread rumors to people that cling on to your every word.

It's important to reach out to those outside of the poker community. I explained the petitions reason regarding online poker, but also its purpose to protect people from the government controlling online commerce. This seemed to ring home a little more than poker did with some of my non-poker friends.

I agree with the above posters, this is probably more important than we think because it does truly show our dedication or lack of dedication regarding this cause as a poker community.
