bad advice. Never lend a random person money. Never lend a friend or family person money if you need the money back and, or, you would lose the friendship if they didn't pay. It's just not worth it then.

But, you should definitely lend your friends money if you don't care about the money being repaid because you are helping them out in a time of need. There is a decent chance they will never pay you back. Friendship > Money

Do you ever give money to charity? Trust me, it's a very good feeling. Helping a friend in need is a better use of money than giving to charity imo, it's more tangible, more real than giving to charity in a way. This is of course assuming that your friend is not using the money in a destructive way, but if he is, why are you such good friends?
