I started playing on sp site now for the last few weeks... the software is still hideous with drop issues and of course play is horrid. I still say I have gotten nasty tracking issues with sp's user interface.

"*The real-money site will be separate from the free-play site." Certainly hope there are few similarities.

EGR reports that South Point should be one of the operators that whose license will be approved in August. Gaughan believes that his site should launch shortly thereafter.
Being a first mover has its disadvantages, of course. In the interview, Gaughan said “…the regulator is putting a few more restrictions on us, and wants us to start a little slower than we would like. We will conform to their wishes, but at the end of the year it will be a full blown site in Nevada”

What restrictions should we anticipate?

The player pools going to be really really small in my opinion. But at least the money will be safe. Im curious to see if theyll give rakeback of any kind but i kinda doubt it because as it stands now there's no competition.

Regulated online poker, even with its drawbacks, will also for the first time in almost ten years (party poker) bring back the casual players. Right now NO casual players play online in the united states, but thats going to change. THe player pool while not as big , will indeed be softer.

The 1/2 game in my casino is also pretty soft.
Of course crappy sites with no liquidity will be soft. That does not make them desirable.
I look forward to sp going online. I travel to nv just to test it out.
I hope they get their money worth. 500k seems a lot.

Re: South Point Poker to be first Real Money Poker in US
I think a lot of dominos might start to fall after the first place opens.
Congress might feel the need to pass Federal legislation after a state finally gets the online cards in the air.
NV or DE might decide to heck with this intra-state stuff and go international sooner than later.
Wynn (or someone) might join with Pokerstars.
Etc., Etc., Etc.

Any chance of people setting up VPNs to play there?...I mean there would probably be a good market for those who want to play outside of Nevada.

IIRC, even if your just visiting Nevada, you can play. I assume it will be hard to enforce VPN with allowing visitors to play, but I am sure they will not openly allow VPNs.
I don't think any business of this sort would allow people to conceal their locations.
The last thing we need is people in masses immediately doing fraudulently activities, as we finally are getting closer and closer to intrastate legalization.

the marketing director for south point told me they're dropping the zen software and going with their own, he said it was awesome, well see
he did also share his disgust for the current software

IMO, if they want to survive and or be smart, being the first in this market for U.S. sites and attract international players in the future, they better not cut corners anywhere with their software.

Will people from outside Nevada be able to create an account and use it for play money?
