In before there are a million references to luck and gambling, Lisa loses all the money, poker becomes illegal and everyone has a street party or some BS. Gonna be a terrible episode.

Sam Simon hasn't worked on the show since season 4.

The most common quote from any Simpsons fan is "The show was so much better in season (current year minus 3)". That has not changed since about season 5.

I don't think they realize what a touchy subject it is to do an episode about an online poker player losing his money. They could have had a poker episode without that theme... could have had Homer accidentally end up with a main event seat and luckbox the tourney and then travel the world playing poker or something along those lines.

Only days after? Do you really think the network cared enough to swap out a scheduled episode of an old Twilight Zone just to capitalize on something the Federal Reserve Chairman said? Episode lineup is scheduled well in advance of the air date and I'm sure they have better things to attend to than monitor the economy to increase Twilight Zone viewership.

This is theoretically possible; it just has to get worse with every passing year. Don't have a cow, man.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a current example:

The new South Park dissed gold just like Bernanke did the other day.

An old Twilight Zone that is rarely shown called "The Rip Van Wrinkle Caper" was on TV days after Bernanke's gold statement. In the episode, 4 guys steal 1 million in gold bricks, then enter suspended animation machines that wake them in 100 years in order to avoid capture and have a form of currency in their new era. Yada yada yada they kill each other over the gold and when a future couple happens upon the last dying man, there was this exchange:

"...the man named George gets back into his car to report Farwell's death to the police, he quizzically remarks to his wife, "Can you imagine that? He offered this to me as if it was really worth something." The wife vaguely recalls that it had indeed been valuable at some time in the distant past. The husband replies, "Sure, about a hundred years or so ago, before they found a way of manufacturing it," and tosses the gold bar away.

I'm sure there are tons of other anti-gold sentiments on other shows right now. Fortunately, it seems the government is on our side regarding poker. The Simpsons episode should give us an idea of exactly what Washington's stance is.
i hardly ever do this, but cool story, bro

Current year minus three? No, it stopped being a quality show after season 9. Maybe a small crowd started saying that in season 5 but most people agree: 9.

It takes 8 months to make an episode of the Simpsons, and it could of been written when online poker was at its height of popularity.

Most of the animated shows (Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, Etc.) send their work to Japan to be animated, which is why they usually don't cover current events. Southpark is more of paper cutout animation.

I love both South Park and The Simpsons, but dude, compare both in terms of animation, effects, sound etc. The Simpsons is 1000x more techical/complicated. South Park creators chose for the style they use because they can make episodes on very short notice, iirc taking an episode typically takes 2 weeks but can be done in 1 week if necessary.

You just can't make a The Simpsons episode in that timespan. Maybe 8 months is much, I have no ****ing idea, but saying it should be able to pull off what SP is doing is ridiculous.
