I think slow rolling for the sake of it is scummy. With that said, if you are being a complete d**K at the table and talking lots of trash, especially to me, I will slow roll your arse in a heart beat. Sadly enough there are lots of trash talking idiots at the table, but imo they get what they deserve if they get slow rolled.

i don't understand why slowrolls are bad. i don't really do them and don't remember caring if someone slowrolled me. i always just thought that's part of the game ever since it's on like every tv show and movie ever about poker and it's the only "move" many amateurs know. one time a white haired man slowrolled me and was so ridiculously happy and proud and i didn't care at all that it was totally +EV for everyone's mood and i thought it was pretty awesome that someone that old could have his mood improve so much from such a little prank that it even improved my mood and i felt happy i could oblige his guilty pleasure with no harm to me because i didn't care. i also saw one guy make a long slowroll vs his friend in ept madrid 2k or 5k and a lot of people thought it was hilarious. the other players who had to wait were annoyed but the guy slowrolled (i forget who i think some sc player, not elky) didn't even seem to care because he was so tired from playing all day. he just seemed like "ok, you have aces." but then i saw mikey and heard the tone of his voice and think i changed my opinion. i think the result of a slowroll is almost 100% dependent on the "victim"(s). if everyone's having a good time and the victim doesn't mind, it can be fun. but it's generally impossible to tell if a victim minds before trying it's probably best to ask someone politely before the game or during downtime what they think of slowrolling to get their opinion before trying it out. consider that approach in this case. if it had come out in friendly discussion which can lead anywhere else the table wants, shaun might have learned or recalled mikey's hatred of slowrolls and held back. if some other player laughed and thought slowrolls were "a good laugh", you could confidently slowroll that player without fear of offending them.

So many overreactions in the thread. Clearly it was a friendly environment type of game where "ribbing" and "jesting" were welcomed among those drinking and those that weren't.

Does Mike have a reason to be upset? Sure, if that is one of his biggest pet peeves. Did he overreact considering the environment? Yes. I think Shaun handled it fine in the aftermath and his choice to purposefully slowroll is not that big of a deal taking into account the entire scenario.

But everyone loves drama...

Why is slowrolling despicable but threatening to punch somebody in the face is a-okay?

Lol at anyone thinking this is a big deal in this spot/game. I've never slowrolled anyone in my life in a casino or online, but in a homegame with buddies where everyone's drinking and screwing around this stuff should be encouraged. It is a game, after all. Lighten up.

edit: I understand this takes place in a casino, but it's clear from the video that essentially there's a home game atmosphere to it: buddies, drinking, laughs, no randoms, etc.

If MM had a million dollar bankroll, then a slow roll in such a little pot shouldn't bother him too much. But since he just lost a 30k pot and I'm damn sure he isn't rolling in the cash, slow rolling him there was like kicking someone in the nuts while they were already down.

I agree with many posters in this thread about it being a home game atmosphere and it's super ok to do in this spot. If it happened to anyone else Mike would have been laughing as well.

LOL at kevmode thinking mods should be held to higher standards and not be allowed to do this. Just because he's a mod he can't slowroll? Please explain this logic because it seems foolish.

can we agree that if the roles were reversed, in the same circumstance, there would be 200 posts calling mikey a scumbag?

Yup. Someone is on T.V., only reasonable to assume they're suddenly incredible actors.

Fair point, Atarirob. In this particular spot, I suppose it does kinda suck. Nonetheless, Mike overreacted, like a lot of people in this thread. In general, in a game like this, certain standards change, and something like the slowroll goes from being terrible etiquette to terribly funny.

No, there wouldn't. It still would have been funny, and possibly even more so cause Deeb would have handled it better.

Mike is probably the worst guy to do it to, which made this situation very funny. Also Shaun didn't even take a minute to call. That was the most harmless needle under friends i ever saw and you have to be borderline psycho to be offended by it.

the only thing that offended me was the boring nature of the slowroll. "o0o...i'm thinking so hard". At least talk it up...ask if he'll run it twice...say something funny. ask to phone a friend. I dunno...deeb is supposed to have a personality if he's on tv...wtf to just sitting there pretending to think. great television.

Mike as usual saved the whole segment by actually doing something interesting on tv (blowing up)...that's why he'll be invited to these shows over and over even if deeb is technically better at poker.

Would have been great if he asked him to run it twice.

I love slow-rolling and getting slow-rolled. There is nothing better. Sometimes it is really fun and other times it ****ing burns oh so bad. But in hindsight, everyone I ever slow-rolled basically wanted it or had it coming and the same goes for me, especially in the village w/worm and g-ma.

If the whole debacle is to be taken seriously, then this.

Remonstrating about being slow rolled is one thing. Making a threat of physical violence by way of response is just grossly disproportionate. The irony is, if he elevates the situation like he did against someone who has the same lack of self discipline, it only invites a response in kind.

I'm amazed he hasn't been hospitalised (afaik), and suspect the only reason he gets away with it is because he has a reputation for being a child at the table, and because people want his money.

Having said all that, he's still great TV!

Why is it ok for a mod to act like an immature kid slowrolling people and playing ladies events? Is this how a mod of 2+2 should act? I expect a higher lvl of etiquette and class from a mod. Maybe it is time Deeb step down as a mod.

Exactly what does being a mod have to do with anyone's behaviour on a made-for-tv poker game?
