Seat Me will:

Greatly reduce the ability to bumhunt
• Prevent seating scripts and level the playing field by undermining those few players using software that allows them to unfairly prey on less experienced players
• Mimic the live poker experience of random table and seat selection
• Introduce potential time penalties to reduce game disruption caused by players constantly switching tables, stealing blinds or refusing to play certain opponents

We will be testing this new functionality soon, on PokerStars.es, and will review the results of this trial before considering potential future use of Seat Me in other markets.

Welcome to the new era, gentlemen.

Might be the first (and only) good update from amaya. This is like the unibet system right?

Mostly great changes, with the exception of taking money off of MTT final tables to pay bigger mincash—why not just pay slightly smaller %?

i was expecting this for a long time.its mostly gg for rus/belarus/ukraine bumhunters, doubt it will have much effect on zoom since most of them would get destroyed pretty fast.

why does it say highstakes cash is 80 euro buyin and more? and also all the other ranges? Does this mean that i'll have a shot of making it to the highstakes?

They still don't realize that bum hunting will never disappear.
You can seat players with better players and the game will just not run. Especially when charging insane amounts of rake.
Pros play to make money, not for the experience.

Should they hand out penalties for not playing? This creates even more hostility for both regs and fish.
Zoom only? A lot of fish don't like Zoom, so you'll push more players away.

Party has the anonymous table system. The reg sits with a stack making it obvious it him and the game always breaks within an orbit, if there is no fish.
Now, there is a lot more angling and grimming going on, and fish get annoyed by constant camping for two orbits, when the regs are trying to find out if a fish sat.

You can do subtle stuff like not have scripts sit you within 0.1 seconds, so it looks like players are joining naturally.
Or you can make the wait list invisible when at a table.

But you can't get rid of this problem, if you can even call it that.

I can't see this working. People just won't play if they get a seat they don't like.

I also don't really see the point given that as it stands they just close tables when people are sitting out so you're required to join massive waiting lists for a table whose composition will be completely changed by the time you get there.

It's a nice idea but I expect it will just end pushing everyone to zoom and/or another site.

overall it results in a fish sitting against a less tough lineup than they would otherwise. This means that they lose money less quickly and pokerstars generates more rake.

You're completely out of the loop MixGrill.

Bots will run the games, bad/rec regs will stay and both will keep all the fishes to themselves.

it would turn a big bunch of regs into breakeven or losing ones, so they gonna leave pokerstars and recs gonna play in a more tough reg pool

We'll see. That is why they're doing the experiment after all

The fish isn't playing against weaker players, because the seat scripters are obv. not that good.

Are you forced to play a min. number of hands, if a table starts? Otherwise tables with just regs will be shut down in seconds and it would just get really annoying.

i strongly agree. the objective of this is not to get rid of scripts, but to get rid of people that make a living out of poker.

if the objective of this is to get rid of seating scripts they will fail miserably. i guarantee that automatic seating solutions will be available fast, probably from day 1. most people say "make all zoom so you cant script" yeah well, you can also script zoom quite efficiently. it just isnt done because there is not much money in it.

however, this does a pretty good job at fücking the regs. any high stakes reg knows what a pain in the ass it is to play on party.

also guys... keep in mind that FT rolled a pretty much identical system. stars is not here to "experiment" with this. maybe experiment in the sense of "will the software produce a million bugs?" kind of way, but they know damn right what effect and impact this will have

QFT. You can hand out all the penalties you want, but pros aren't stupid enough to bleed money in -EV games all day. If they want to kill regular tables, then mission accomplished.

If you enjoy playing short handed you will no longer be able to? Only 6 max/FR/HU.

obviously another money grab (attempt to force more 6-regs tables), regular games will probably just die out soon and everyone will be playing zoom

also, this:

Quote:
• Introduce potential time penalties to reduce game disruption caused by players constantly switching tables, stealing blinds or refusing to play certain opponents
will be huge turn-off for recs, as most of them prefer to hitnrun and jump tables

It will be interesting to see the effects of this experiment.
