Hello everyone its been a while since any new updates have been written about Hialeah Parks Poker Room Scandal, but let nme be the first to say that FINALLY justice has been served.
In the past few weeks, roughly 5 employees from the HIALEAH PARK POKER ROOM have been terminated for corruption/illegal activity/improper conduct not allowed in the state of florida rules book. One of those victims was none other than Mr. Nelson Costas (right hand man) , DANIEL SIERRA, his assistant poker room manager. This is the same thief that tried to coverup the chip count discrepensies in the $200,000 famous tournament that was obviously a SCAM ran by Hialeah Park. Mr. Sierra good luck at the unemployment line buddy.

Also a victim of the firings was Mr. Costas shift manager and his poker room supervisor which he had training employees at his now famous POKER SCHOOL. Good job fellas , you have made HIALEAH PARK proud. I wonder how long before the main man gets the AX. Good luck finding a job boys.

Folks this is what occurs when you hire corrupted management to head your business/operation. Sooner or later they will find a way to either scam /rob/humiliate you .
Corrupted bunch of Cubans down in South Florida, it doesn't surprise me one bit. Hiring experienced staff from either Las Vegas or atlantic City would have been a wiser choice, instead of allowing Mr. Costa to hire all these crooks

It is obvious that there are many people out there hating on the Hialeah Park Casino. I've read all the allegations and I can say that a lot of the things are untrue. A lot of the things being said I know 100% are untrue. Mr.Costa is a standup guy who has ran an outstanding poker room wherever he's been. He is no crook and it the people who are writing all of these things about him are either disgruntled employees or people from other casino's who will benefit from the Hialeah Park poker rooms scandal. I would like to see some of the people writing all of these things really come up with facts. It really suck for people to accuse him of things such as doing drugs and other things when if fact everyone who knows Mr.Costa knows this is 100%untrue and it's a real shame that people would want to ruin his reputation based on lies.

Hello poker players and members of the forum. The topic of this discussion was titled " Hialeah Poker players deserve answers", well we not only received answers but we saw JUSTICE SERVED today as I have been informed that Mr. Costa and his crooks have all been terminated from Hialeah Park Casino and Poker.
I would like to congratulate the state of florida pari-mutuel department for their investigation and also I would like to thank Hialeah Park officials for there correct decision making in letting these criminals go. These employees have been abusing their positions as state gameroom employees to get away with all these unfair/ unnecessary practices all while working for a state regulated facility. Good luck finding employement anywhere else you bunch of crooks and thieves.

Finally the bottom line is that Justice was served today and this should be a lesson to all State gameroom employees, " If you think you can commit a crime and get away with it no matter who is backing you up, YOUR WRONG, you will get caught eventually and PAY THE PRICE. Goodluck at the unemployment line .

Actually is not over !

Shalom !

If the alleged accusations and statements were confirmed to be true by The State of Florida Department of Professional & Business Regulation Pari –Mutuel Official Investigation Report. And the investigation is finished , Then the State D.B.P.R. Should publish their official report online – public records and also forward a copy to The Sun – Sentinel reporter NSortal@SouthFlorida.com

"The Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering is aware of the potential issue with a Hialeah Poker tournament and is gathering information," the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation said in an email. The email noted that the department would not explain how the state was notified or provide other details until the investigation is completed.

Poker players contacted the Sun-Sentinel immediately after the tournament and posted detailed complaints and accusations on poker web sites about the tournament, but none said they filed anything formally with the state.

If the state’s official investigation report does confirm that the alleged accusations and statements were true , then the Honorable thing to do next is for the General Manager and anyone else that were hired by the owners to make sure Hialeah Park & Casino and The State of Florida Department of Professional & Business Regulation Pari -Mutuel Reputation would not be tainted or accused of negligence . They would need to accept the Responsibility and Resign !!!! .

Hialeah Park issued the following statement: "Hialeah Park Management became aware of the alleged incident through social media. An internal investigation of the matter found no evidence of any discrepancies in the manner in which the poker tournament was conducted nor any wrongdoing on the part of any of the poker staff."
Hialeah officials declined further comment.

These individuals and all of the Upper management staff were hired by the General Manager and they have been working at Hialeah Park Casino for approximately two years, if Upper Management was not aware ,then they were all incompetent and failed to protect the public – tax payers and especially the integrity of the Owners of Hialeah Park Casino.

This can also be an embarrassment for The Florida Department of Professional & Business Regulation and The Division of Pari –Mutuel . After two years it took a poker tournament player with a pseudo name Bob Bernstein to catch these guys ! The state should hire him as an undercover mystery player to also check the other casinos . The man really knows the game

If this was really going on , we wonder was else could be happening ? We would need to wait for the official report – Shalom !

While playing somewhere else I overheard several players say that Costa and several other floors are gone. It appears that some of them, as well as dealers, were fired for sex in the office. A guy that plays there and knows several employees says that a lot of the new dealers from Costas school are horribly incompetent and had to pay for the privilege of getting hired with lots of money and/or lots of sex.
Hope the new staff can change the atmosphere/rep at this room. I use to play there often but moved over an hour away and last time I played there 2 different dealers could hardly speak any English. What little they did speak was not understandable and they spent the entire time yacking it up in Spanish. They were slow inattentive and annoying. Players here can be so Ill mannered and non stop Spanish. Even if you ask the dealers English only, most of them don't care.
Working a job near Hialeah in 2 weeks for a few days and staying at a hotel near the airport. I will check it out again and see if things are better. I hear the Jai Alai is dead and never cared for Magic City.

TOP LOCAL PLAYER BUSTS HIALEAH PARK CHEATING IN LUCRATIVE HOLD 'EM POKER TOURNAMENT

Quote:
...Ticked off, Shulman and three others complained to the Florida Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering, which investigated and recently confirmed what the players had suspected: Hialeah's poker managers ran a dirty tournament. The state found myriad problems, from lack of receipts to improper video surveillance to supervisors pocketing cash.

"They said they'd take the money to the cashier later," Shulman says. "They did every possible dance there was."

More recently, poker room manager Nelson Costa resigned, and three of his assistants were fired. The state is expected soon to hand down a six-figure fine. Though no criminal charges are foreseen, it is a distinct black eye for one of the region's most storied facilities.
Quote:
Sergio Morejon, a semiregular who calls Hialeah his favorite place to play, says the regulars simply hadn't paid as much attention to the irregularities until the state stepped in. "There was nothing in the big tournament that I hadn't seen before, but nobody had ever said anything," he says. "The difference was that this tournament drew players from outside, and they all spoke up."

Considering taking a drive to this questionable establishment for some plo action tomorrow, but after reading this I am pretty concerned. The quote from the semi regular is hilarious... yeah outsiders spoke up probably because regulars seemed to be involved in the cheating. Anyway I was wondering if anyone has been here recently? I certainly have no problem speaking up or identifying questionable play in a poker room, but maybe that should be my concern. Anything questionable happening in cash games. Is management component in anyway? Is the plo action as advertised on bravo? If not what alternatives do I have for plo, or plo8 action in south or central Florida? Thanks!

I used to play cash there several times a week, but over time the NL action switched over to PLO which I don't play. Now, it's rare for 2/5NL to run at all, so I don't play there much anymore, but in my experience, other than what mikeyfan wrote, I never noticed any irregularities in the cash games. But be prepared for multiple people conversing in Spanish at the table, including during hands. You'll even have the dealer talking to a player in Spanish during hands unless you voice an objection. You should also know that this is standard throughout the Miami-Dade casinos, but not the SoFla casinos located in Broward County.
