San Diego poker rooms raided (Village Club and Palomar) 2014 San Diego poker rooms raided (Village Club and Palomar) 2014

Having played in both places several times over the last five years I'm not really shocked. My favorite memory is some old guy telling Mike Matusow he looked fatter in person while he was waiting for a seat while Antonio crushed.

That is classic. I have played at Palomar but never at Village Club. The $5 rake (no matter what the pot size) was unbeatable. I'll never forget one hand...it folded around to me in the small blind @ 2/3 No Limit

Me (Small Blind): Chop?
Big Blind: I don't chop
Me (Small Blind): You realize we will be playing for a dollar
Big Blind: That's ok. No Chop
Me (Small Blind): Ok. I am all in.
Big Blind: Call.

I had 9's. He had 3's. 9's Held

What the hell is up with them, I had the same thing happen with AK vs AQ and held as well. I got berated by losing regs twice and decided that was enough. I don't play a lot anymore but when I do it's at Oceans 11.

I'll definitely never play there again. The regulars are a bunch of degens that run back and forth to the table games. When the games are slow they have the dealers join the games (even at 5/10) which certainly doesn't help the cause. Only thing I liked about the place was the food delivery from the local food trucks which were all solid.

lol couldnt pick a better gif, probably some of the best games in the country, pretty sure you can win $45 an hour at the 2/3 games if you're playing relatively deep. Drop is $5 at both rooms, they're both disgustingly trashy but games are goooood.

I completely agree but I have a tendency to get mad quick and don't like going to places where I want to punch half the people inside. Should probably invest in anger management and go back haha.

Have you ever played live poker in a real poker room before?

Cause you just described every single one, ever.

Looks like big time money laundering. Shame that they chose to use poker rooms for it, since the last thing poker needs is bad press like this!

I read this thread all the way to the food truck post before realizing it was initially referring to a older raid

Definitely NOT what poker needs right now. Also sucks to lose the card room 1 mile from my house

I'm pretty sure it's not a huge revelation that shady people are often involved in running gambling operations.

Just remember folks, if you wish to gamble amongst your friends, make sure you do it at a licensed casino where the government can take a cut! Shame on these evil scumbags for not including the state.

Lucky Lady is still operating -- but with only 2 tables of NL available (and nothing higher than 2/3) it's not an ideal situation.

On an somewhat-related note -- any chance you've ever seen/played with me at Palomar? I'm the late 20s white guy with a beard.

You were wearing an SD hat the night before the raid? In seat 9?
