I actually played poker with Mr. Chagra, before he passed.

Why does the dad get fired as a judge unless he concealed the crime? Saw that perpetrator used dad's computer to communicate laundering activity so perhaps falls under reasonable suspicioun of criminal activity.

He didn't get fired. He didn't get re-elected. Did you vote yesterday?

Quote:
His father, up for re-election as a municipal court judge, issued a statement not long after Carleo’s arrest: "I can say that as a prosecutor and a judge, I have always felt people who break the law need to be held accountable." Nevertheless, just a week before Carleo pleaded guilty to the robberies of the Suncoast and the Bellagio, George Assad was voted off the bench.

Fired does not equate to not getting re-elected. Firing entails termination papers.

How else would one intrepret that sentence?

So you are taking what someone said in the thread as truth as opposed to a quote I pulled directly from the article? Why do I bother?

That was a good video! It's always fascinating to read or hear stories directly from people like him, to know what they did, to know how they did it and what they had to do to get to the level of power they did.

You are right. I was wrong. Very wrong to just rely on a fellow poster.

Before he passed? Did you think we might assume you played poker with him after he died?

I just wanted to make it clear i was beating him when he was tough. After he passed, he turned into a calling station that never folded. And didn't smell very well.

Wonder if Bellagio counted the chips he lost back to them via table game play towards the losses

Just reading through this.... SURELY the dealer got fired also? I have to imagine their contract would stipulate that failure to pass on relevant information would be grounds for termination.

As for having balls pulling this off, I suppose if you are being hounded by the mob(?) and things are getting heavy, a 9-stretch might just seem the best way out.

This story kinda debunks some urban myths:

Myth 1. The high denomination chips have rf-chips in them that allow them to be tracked around the casino floor so the casino knows when a whale walks in.
Fact: The chips were in their casino and they had no clue.

Myth 2. All the cameras in Vegas make it improbable to get away with a serious crime on the strip.
Fact: He walked out of the main entrance of the Bellagio, drove on the strip and wasn't able to be tracked.

Maybe all those eyes in the sky are better deterrents than enforcers.

1) They have unique serial numbers for the 25k I believe, they are tracked that way. RFID isn't useful due to the short range. He never tried to cash in a 25k in the casino, only 5k and below which he changed out at the poker table.

2) He was wearing a motorcycle helmet. How do you propose they see his face?

I just went through my high school yearbooks because I grew up in the same town as this guy and remembered a bunch of Carleo's from back in the day. Successful family overall. This one was adopted I guess. Explains the drastic difference in personality.

Anyway, I went to high school with 4 different Carleo's, but not this one. He must have been a few years older. Never knew about this story, was really hoping to spice up the thread today with an awkward yearbook photo of this guy.

[ ] cool story (bro)

1. This super secret SN must be fact not urban legend.

2. Who said anything about his face? You leave the bellagio with $1mil stolen, and all you need to do is drive to the dessert to get away?

The B buffet isn't that long.

Has it been six years already? OceanSpray25 only got 9 years, and that's not counting time off for good behavior. I expect to see him back here any day now.
