Legally speaking, this whole move is against FTP/Stars as companies, not online poker as a whole, although it's certainly a huge hit on the industry.

Problem is that for a while, no reputable sites are going to be available to US players, and with a huge number of players having their BR stuck probably for a very long time, traffic is going to be horrible.

If you really need to play for a living, there's absolutely no reason to stay in this joke of a country. Just gtfo and take the opportunity to see the rest of the world and to realize that this is very very very far from being the best country in the world...
BODOG HERE I COME BIG MAMA! lmao

so is pokers on pokerstars ok if your canadian? or is the company getting shut down?
04-16-2011 , 01:41 AM
Whatever - I think everyone's #1 concern right now should just be if/when we get our money back.

I hope that someone addresses that. Soon. If "7 million people" really play online poker every week in the USA or whatever figure they're using, then they've all got varying degrees of money tied up.

No way will it be seized. We only have to worry about the integrity of the sites, and, FWIW, with so many prominent names/public faces tied to FTP, I'm not overly worried.

I would guess that a lot of this would come down to whether or not online poker is considered gambling in a legal sense. The problem is, even if the sites dont consider themselves to fall under "online gambling", obviously lots of other banking/financial institutions did. If not then they never would have had to try so hard to get around the uigea restrictions. It would be nice to know how the uigea defines gambling and why so many banks thought online poker was off limits.

U.S. Player here...Tried to withdraw my 4honey from FTP via check. It was processed and then was declined a few hours later...doubt I will ever see it. Yet I am currently playing 6 man micro limit and getting donked out on...but I don't even mind...just glad to be playing. I have to work at 9AM tomorrow and need to sleep soon, so I am waiting on a great hand to go out on. One of those hands where where you flop the nuts or close to it, and 2 or 3 fish call u down with middle pair. After all, it could be my last online poker hand ever. So sad. Should be drinking heavy right now. Five years of good times.......

the govt makes too much money selling illegal weed for them to legalize it

Yea lol, I doubt anyone spends a day in jail atleast none of the big ppl involved (maybe the banks and that bank owner). A bunch of fines and new laws and regulations and online will be regulated by Feds in a yr.

Atleast thats my take on it.

Funniest part:

In a time when more people have started playing online poker because it's a decent source of income in tough economic times, the DoJ has ostensibly fired every single online grinder (worldwide, if this 48 hours-until-shutdown is true). Certainly hundreds of thousands of people.

WP.

He's not a ****ing lawyer. If he is then he must've graduated a TTT.

What ****ing lawyer doesn't understand the concept of bank fraud? He thought the bank was defrauded. lol

As much as we all love POkerstars and Fulltilt you cant say they aint stupid for committing actual fraud. GJ guys taking a business that operates in a legal grey area and turning it into black and white illegal
I'm not sure he'll be alive long enough to write this book.

Over/under on life expectancy of Daniel Tzvetkoff? I'll set the line at 8 months.

Prohibition worked out well for one particular group in the 1930's...

I'm pretty sure that no government official made any sort of profit from that era. Surely nobody would dare pay them for any kind of "favor", then or now.

that 48 hour shutdown statement is ambiguous and driving me crazy. does anyone know if he meant the websites will be shut down everywhere in 48 hours(since they are still viewable to many) or the actual clients????? big difference.

I just finished 8 years of honorable Army service a few months ago.

Because of this craziness, I might have to come back to the Army for a few more years.

Pat Tillman killed by friendly fire attempted coverup, Aidetha US Marines gang rape and killing of 14 year old Iraqi girl and her family, Quatanamo prisoners torture and abuse, Abu Graib Iraqi prisoners torture and abuse, recent case of US Stryker brigade soldiers using up to 5 innocent Afgans as target practice.

Looks like I am back for a few more years in uniform. The power of the US government is too strong. I would be surprised if Tilt/Stars will escape. These companies will be scorched to the ground unfortunately.

Lol?

The federal government says that they were, and unfortunately when they say something these days it is far more powerful than the truth.

It's not like they represent the people anyway, they haven't in a very long time. It is basically it's own private entity at this point, run like the worst business in the world, where nothing gets produced, deficit spending runs amok, and everyone steals whatever and whenever they can.

In all honesty, what is happening in the US is disgusting and frightening.
