Who knows other than the powers that be. It's likely FTP and PStars do not know.

Right now, everyone relax. It's out of our hands for sure. Time will tell how things will pan out.

Re: Reuters: Full Tilt Poker, Pokerstars and Absolute Poker charged with illegal gambling

From Wire Act of 1961 (basis of UIGEA where it draws it's "authority" that online poker is illegal)

Quote:
(b) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the
transmission in interstate or foreign commerce of information for
use in news reporting of sporting events or contests, or for the
transmission of information assisting in the placing of bets or
wagers on a sporting event or contest from a State or foreign
country where betting on that sporting event or contest is legal
into a State or foreign country in which such betting is legal.

I'm no expert on these issues, but I do not see how Stars and Tilt can continue to service U.S. citizens while criminal charges are pending.

Re: Reuters: Full Tilt Poker, Pokerstars and Absolute Poker charged with illegal gambling

I honestly doubt the government is going to accomplish much with this. Maybe operations for all 3 might stall for a bit or something, but I doubt the government has a case on them. This is probably going to go to court for awhile, might not even be surprised to see an internet regulation bill before this case is even finished (unless it's thrown out before that happens).

From Marketwatch.com

DOJ indicts founders of top US online poker sites

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Federal authorities unsealed an indictment Friday against the founders of the three largest internet poker companies operating in the U.S. The indictment charges eleven defendants, including the founders of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker, with bank fraud, money laundering, and illegal gambling offenses, according to Federal authorities in New York. Restraining orders were issued against more than 75 bank accounts used by the poker companies and their payment processors, while five Internet domain names used by the companies to host poker games were seized, federal authorities added in a statement.

The sky is officially falling now. This is terrible news. Is this really the end of online poker?
