Weekly Report
Weekly profit: + $4,030
High day: +$870
Low day: -$180
Total profit to this point: +$19,640
I’m at the end of my first month playing full time online, and I far surpassed my profit goals. I had told myself that if I couldn’t net at least $5,000 in October, then playing full-time probably wasn’t for me. I surpassed +$5,000 on October 21st, and surprisingly shot up to +$9,800 yesterday before settling in at a monthly profit of $9,250 (that’s around $7,200 playing profit + $2,000 in rakeback for the month, by the way). That represents 21 winning days and 10 losing days for the month. I play almost exclusively at the Party 3/6 tables, but occasionally some 5/10 or 2/4 depending on how I’m feeling. I now have a dual monitor set-up so that I can play 8 tables at once, although I find 6 is the most that I can reasonably handle without things getting too crazy.

Re: Really, how old school are you?
Getting interest on Party poker balance (I think it was like 10%/year, up to max balance of $10,000? maybe someone remembers), and getting some ridiculously large amount of whatever they called FPPs just for depositing $500 and not cashing it out for at least a week.
Davidross series was awesome, highly recommend anyone who asks "what was it like back in the day" to read.
Jesse May book is still read at least once a month by me - best line something like "It doesn't matter how good you are, it's real lonely out there and it's whether you fall apart when things get tough."
The "censored vs uncensored" debate between RGPers and 2p2ers, leading to Steve Badger requesting his entire posting history being deleted from 2p2.
With smoking at the table - the little fans they handed out to nonsmokers to blow the smoke away.
Sgt Rock's RGP trip reports.

Chinese poker as a WSOP event
Anyone play IRC poker back when? The 20 player single table tournaments and multi-deck Chinese poker with >4 players were a trip.
Those 20 player STTs did teach you the value of position though...

I wandered into one of those by mistake. I was about half-convinced UB was rigged when I lost consecutive hands with queens full, aces full, and quad tens. Then I figured it out. I'm not very quick.

Those were awesome. 200 seats with most of the interwebs trying to get in. I made it about 80% of the time. Never final tabled as I had less than no clue about tournament NLHE back then.

Re: Really, how old school are you?
slimmouse. The guy who won the online WSOP ME satellite - there was only one. Then next year there were 4 or 5, and he won another seat. And I thought what a sicko, no one will ever match that.

Chinese poker on IRC was great. Back then I was one of the "young kids" in poker. I got 86ed from IRC for chat abuse. For play money.

Schneids' 60k in 60 days challenge. Now that's like 1 session for him.
