He has not attempted to reach me. I was also hoping he might either clarify or retract his accusations. He has done neither. In a recent phone conversation between him and Justin, he made it clear he has no intention of issuing a retraction or apology. That being the case, I feel compelled to respond to his accusations as they stand.
He says "Isaac Haxton and Justin Bonomo share and switch accounts often." I take this accusation very seriously. I'm a professional poker player and I specialize in heads up games. To make my living, I rely on my opponents faith that when they play me they are getting a fair game. To publicly accuse me, without evidence, of playing on other people's accounts or allowing other people to play on mine is nothing short of libel.
It is, unfortunately, the nature of these sort of accusations that there is nothing I can do to prove him wrong. His allegations are false, but there's no real way for me to demonstrate it. If anyone has any clever ideas about how I could, I'm open to suggestions. Any of the sites I've ever played on are, of course, welcome to investigate my account activity and publish their findings.
I've been struggling to decide how, if at all, to address Prahlad's accusations about the XXTRMSK8X account. I've decided that I value my reputation over my privacy and anonymity. XXTRMSK8X is my Absolute Poker account.
In 2009 I had played him on my UB account, dasharkman11. He knew this was my account. He swapped me UB money for FTP so that we could continue playing after I busted him on FTP. I beat him for a lot and he quit that account. Shortly thereafter, I stopped seeing him on the Cereus network. So, after he signed as a UB pro and started waiting at 50/100 tables on a regular basis, I played him on my AP account, which he didn't know was me.
Was this a nice thing to do? No. Would I do this to a friend, or even a friendly acquaintance? No. Does this break any rules? Absolutely not. Prahlad is not my friend. I will do whatever the rules of the site he is sponsored by and plays on allow to take his money. Given his general reputation, his behavior in relation to this specific incident, and the level of integrity displayed by his decision to sign with UB, I do not doubt he would go at least as far himself to take mine.
That I have been placed in the position of having to compromise my privacy and anonymity in order to clear my name makes me furious. I beat Prahlad fair and square. I paid rake that pays his salary to do it. In turn, I was publicly accused of cheating and my privacy was violated. Losing my anonymity on Cereus will impact my bottom line. This is completely unfair and reflects very poorly on Prahlad as an individual and on UB as a company.
To reiterate, I have NEVER played a hand of poker on Justin Bonomo's account on any site and he has NEVER played on any of my accounts. In the time I have known him, the past three years or so, Justin has conducted himself with impeccable ethics as a poker player. Prahlad's accusations are baseless and defamatory.

So let me get this straight, you think it is fair and square to angleshoot a highstakes reg by playing on an unknown account? However, you think it is unfair to now be outted and that it reflects poorly on Prahlad?
This rational is completely ridiculous. Prahlad might have went about his claims in a not so professional way, but every move you have made before, during, and after playing Prahlad on this account trumps any unprofessional antics by him; it is not even close.
The common theme in these situations is that once a player reaches a level of success that the majority of the poker world deems impressive, you think you are owed something. You are not owed privacy, you are not entitled to playing anonymous, the only thing you are bound to is the unwritten code that your fellow players subscribe to.
You are using Prahlads poor form of using a social networking outlet as his microphone as a huge smoke cloud to cover up the fact you played Prahlad from this AP account specifically because he had no idea it was you. You do realize why multi-accounting is frowned upon right?
These scummy antics that certain players partake in daily are probably the core reason these same players not receiving anything close to a sponsorship.
What Prahlad done was poor form, but nothing compared to your result. Prahlad broke no rules either if you want to be technical. He called out someone. But using another account from the same network to get action from someone who wouldnt play you otherwise, breaks the spirit of the technicality.

This is what I'd like to know. It seems kind of random that he would just assume that it's Ike and be right.

Angleshoot a high stakes regs? Most people have a different name on every site they play. It's not their obligation to announce their identity (although some do, out of ego). Welcome to internet poker.

Re: Prahlad calls out Haxton and Bonomo for account sharing
I hate to defend UB, but the evidence suggesting UB informed Prahlad seems rather lacking--I don't see how one would get that impression at all from reading his twitter (in fact, seems completely the opposite based on Prahlad's tone) or from anything posted in this thread, his twitter says it took him 3k hands to figure out it was Ike

Re: Prahlad calls out Haxton and Bonomo for account sharing
It's a little weird that he was right without any evidence. But, if he asked UB security who owned the account, and they told him (which would be ridiculously uncool), I would think that the fact that you're allowed to have two accounts on Cereus would've come up.

Ike is known to be .. umm unique in his HU play. It is still hard to believe Prahlad would come to the conclusion that he was behind a random name, with enough certainty to start publishing his claims on twiter in 3k hands.

Re: Prahlad calls out Haxton and Bonomo for account sharing
Well, thanks Ike, finally get to the end of the thread and I find your post as the final one, personally I agree with you that it is wrong that you have to out your online name as most enthusiasts are aware that you struggle to find opponents due to your excellence. Frankly I am inclined to side with you on this issue. This means in this instance I feel ZJ can be considered innocent.
Ike, this is not meant to attack you, but personally when ZJ calls you honourable, frankly I find it laudable, (its is not that I think your unhonourable at all) but that it is not honour, it is basic decency not to try to cheat. Unfortunately with so much money involved cheating is inevitable and my issue is with the majority of your attitudes. Anyone with any shred of deceny should not multi-account (this has obv died down in last few years) or IMO ghost accounts (this still seems prevelant), even 1% of the time.
I cant remember the poster but whoever said they go round to a mates place and when they are in a tough spot get help/advice/suggestions, this again IMO is wrong. Poker is an individual game and the fact that you are in a tough spot should make you a better player for the mistakes you make and hence learn from. And BTW I do have friends, its just I can have them round and watch Sunday Sport while donking away in MTTs.
Now b4 you all go on about my lack of posts etc, the fact is that I have played online poker b4 most of you even started, I was one of the first on Euro players when paradise launched, then moved to euro sites and then to FT and PS etc, I have never multi-account, the only time I have ever ghosted someone is when I have encouraged them to play online poker and helped set up their account and then shown them on my account how the software etc works, and then left them be. The fact that seemingly so many of you sit in a room together on Sundays (anyday) and seek each others advice is wrong to me...after all, alot of the ppl who have posted seem to be HS players and this seems ok to them. I realise that with this common interest many of you may have become housemates etc, but this is still shady, and frankly you should be ashamed. Talk poker away from your sessions, seek advice for leeks post the event, but when you are actually playing, it should only be you, not getting all your mates to help with a decision when down to the last 100 in a sunday major (for example)
We cant regulate online poker, it comes down to an individuals morals. I read Ike's post and it comes across as a man pissed off at being accused of cheating, a man with morals, I have read several of ZJ's in the past and he seems to think that provide it doesnt violate ToS then all is good. I disagree with ZJ attitude.
I dont give a Fuc if all the HSP switched/multi-accounted in the past, it was wrong of them to do this and set a bad example, and it seems this has died down.
As was previously mentioned regulation is required for us all to have complete faith in online poker...this will never happen - well the only way would be if each country have sites were only persons from that country could play on that site. This then raises questions of what about if you are on holiday in another country, can you only play on that countrys poker-site, or can you log onto your countries site. With movement of people etc this again would be impossible. The only way international regulation will come in is if the pokersites all agree to pay taxes, and if I was an owner of one of these I would not do this. After all, the US market may be a big one, but I guarantee you the money the US govt would want means online poker, is likely to stay as it is for a long time to come in your country. Therefore regulation will never happen, and we will have to deal with shady things for as long as we play online poker - accept it!
In Summation:
- PF you are wrong to air these accusations without proof
- IH you seem to have been the biggest loser in all of this, for this you have my sympathy, please continue to crush all-comers
- ZJ just because it doesnt violate ToS doesnt make it ethically correct
- Sunday Grinders - dont get advice of other people while playing, this is as good as cheating or selling your account (even if it is just one spot, if you think it is different selling your account with 100 left as Sorel did as opposed to 4/5 (whatver number) watching your mate go deep in a tourney and offering your advice, I call hypocrite!
- I'm going to continue to play on Euro sites, as it seems people have slightly better morals - I will leave playing on FTP to PS to when people stake me for the MTTs, though it seems i have no chance as I am only one weak-tight player up against 4/5 when i get ITM
GL at the tables guys, and remember, we are responsible for keeping poker attractive to new players, if i was a new player and saw that so many of you get advice while in a hand i wouldnt ever start.

Lets have the juice debacle discussion once again !? If ike had a offending name on his ub acc and were forced to a namechange by support , lets say ike picks a random name like kagome kagome .. Youre fine with him then sitting against everyone that wouldnt give him action in a million years if he still was under his original name ?

This was an example of FTP screwing up (they should have given him a name or avatar or something that made it clear who was was), not IHJ doing something unethical. I think IHJ kinda handled it like a douche, but that's tangential.
What Ike did obviously wasn't nice, but there's nothing wrong with it. The same situation comes up in tons of different spots--playing on a new site, playing live when you mostly play online or vice versa, etc. The standard is always the same: You don't have to identify yourself, but it's a nice thing to do. A lot of people say something sort of similar: "I identify myself to my good friends but nobody else." In Ike's case, it's kinda dickish since Prahlad had just told him personally that he didn't want to play him again, but it's still not something that deserves any punishment.

BTW you do not actually have to prove your innocence from accusations to prove the someone slandered you. I think the damages would be easy to prove for any lawyer.
|
Prah bumped into Ike at the Panorama Towers and told Ike he didn't want to play him HU -
how else would Prah be sure enough XXTRMSK8X was Ike's account to tell him confidently face to face unless CERUES outed XXTRMSK8X to him
the only part Prah got wrong is he couldn't figure out how he beat Ike's AP account the first session
b/c he just cant ever beat Ike, so he concluded it must have been ZeeJustin playing on Ike's account
this incident makes one wonder what other inside info CEREUS is providing to their Rep's
