Re: Possibly superusers on Cake -- Lee Jones responds

BTW, why did it take PTR investigating to find all of this out?

Cake charges rake to employ a security team, what were they doing all day for the past year and a half?

Another reason is that PTR does not like Cake's policy of allowing players to change screen names every week, because this renders PTR's paid service almost completely worthless for PTR customers.

Cake's policy of allowing SN changes costs PTR money. PTR prob does not like Cake.

PTR probably doesn't care, since it's easy enough to track players across name changes. Any notes you have on a player stick even when they change their name. PTR is certainly savvy enough to automatically put a note on every player.

(Not sure if it's still true, but originally Cake notes were stored in a text file indexed by a unique player number from the Cake server - you could actually trade these to other players and they'd still work.)

Re: Possibly superusers on Cake -- Lee Jones responds

I say give him a little time (maybe a couple days) but other then that I agree with gregorio's deleted post

btw, iirc that guy plays decent stakes/volume and doubt he would have a prob following up on what he offered. Also, no one should have to pay for cliffs/good posts/contributions/etc but when it's a request of that nature then I agree with offering someone something to do something I specifically want, and if they did it I or whoever offers should def follow through.

Again, he deserves some time though.

I would hope that most of the other sites are secure. However, we're not hearing about how PTR or someone has tried to compromise them unsucessfully. Have they even checked sites for the security file where it should show up? We don't know that they are secure or not. Yet, people in here want to know every detail of Cakes security or just take pot shots at them. I have to wonder if some people have conflicts of interest.

even if you don't change your user name it misses about 1/3 of your hands, so its not very reliable.

Caveat Emptor! Play online at your own risk! After Poker Stars and Full Tilt, I wouldn't play on any other sites. It really isn't hard for a small team to get the best of it online. Just use your imagination. It's happening now and at all times on all sites. And that's the name of that tune.
