Do we know if Portugal will be ring fenced like France, Italy, Spain, or have the world player pools of the UK, Denmark, Estonia?

It seems still after 6 months when it kicks in u will play .com pool, get half the vip at stars, nothing at 888 and party, pro tax. Not clear if immediately illegal to play non licensed sites, but pro tax and those sites might block portugal. With the licensed sites there is possibly only the local bank transfer that will also verify ur age and identity.

No, your point is redundant, those 15% are applied to the site's profit. It's a license tax, the same way as there will be a license tax everywhere else. Players will not be taxed as it seems, UNLIKE everywhere else.

...but they'll have less rewards, benefits...yes but because of the license like everywhere else where benefits become smaller like .FR sites not because of players profits

Is there going to be a way to find this out? Strongly considering moving to Portugal with the new regulation, but cba arriving there and after 1 month wont be able to play on Bwin, stars.fr and 888 or so.

Breaking News: Portugal has published online gambling law today.

Document will be effective law in 60 days from today. Even tough i have not read it yet it seems that there are no taxes for players and we will have international pool players and international liquidity.

I plan to read all documents carefully soon and write a more detailed post about it.

Neverthless it seems that now is time to party guys!

15-30%. France charges 37% effectively and their poker sites have been losing money the past 2 years. Portugal is so small though that most of the sites will be more on the 15% end.

It will be 15% at least in the first phase... France has a different model, here in Portugal will be 15% and international liquidity, this is good news for the portuguese people <3 The taxes ofc it will be the player playing to the house

Minimum wage in Portugal is like €7k/year before taxes.

I think that most people playing poker seriously have little trouble topping that...

No, that has changed and now it is 15% flat (top) over profit.

So, great news also for operators.

That's yet to be confirmed, discussions on the subject seem to have been taking place, we'll all have to wait to know more

But it is announced as part of the new regulation and it will happen if lobbyism wont be able to change the opinion of the people regulating the online poker market. Waiting for the final decision can be pretty dangerous in that case. Because they actually (if my understood that correctly) ask for recommendations until the 9th (i believe it was 9th) of juli 2015.
Kinda makes me mad to hear we have to wait here when in fact it is more likely that we need to act very soon.

The regulating entity was contacted by several portuguese professional players and the operators as well, everything possible is being done, at least so it seems.

Open Market means we can play other rooms outside Portugal (even if doesn't fit the law) or only the one who fits the criteria of the new law here?
