Really curious to know what the activity was he was trying to cover up...$3.5M is a helluvalotta hush money. Got to be something more than some bedroom indiscretions, same-sex or otherwise.

I noticed this in the linked news story:
Quote:
taxpayers withdrawing or depositing in excess of $10,000 must file the transaction with the IRS
Well, no. Banks -- and other financial companies, such as casinos -- are required to file such reports, not "taxpayers". They apply to cash transactions, not to all withdrawals or deposits. They are called Currency Transaction Reports and filed with the U.S. Treasury, not the IRS (which is part of the Department of the Treasury). What the indictment alleges Hastert of having done is called "structuring" -- withdrawing amounts of less than $10,000 each so as to avoid triggering the bank reporting requirement.

Guy expounding about "American Values" was also engaging in sexual activities with his students. This scum needs to suffer as much as possible before he dies.

Going to make a bold prediction that student / blackmailer is male.
News says Hastert was only approached by the student (presumably to ask for hush money) in 2010...$3.5M seems like a crazy amount. Dude's 73 yrs old...you don't have a long future in politics to protect. Still think there must be something especially scandalous behind the curtain..

Apparently, American values include paying $3.5 million to coverup his gay pedophile relationship with one of his wrestling students, and somehow keeping the media at bay today. This was the republican speaker of the house under GW Bush. Arguably the second most powerful position in America. Can you imagine the RW response if he were a democrat?

I don't have to as I remember the story of Democrat Representative Anthony Weiner sending out d*ck pics to every teen girl whose email address he picked up.

No need to make it about party affiliations as most politicians are scum to one degree or another. Senator Harry Reid (D) is a crook who is retiring from a lifetime in politics a multi-millionaire and Senator Lindsay Graham (R) is a closeted homosexual that is certainly being black-mailed to take the side NSA spying on American citizens.

The problem is government and those in it that will sacrifice all you have so that they can keep all the power and entitlements that they have.

Worthless scum bag, the sight of that guy has always revolted me. Hopefully he dies in prison.

Please no politics. If you haven't figured out yet that both sides are just as evil and corrupt as the other, you're still part of the problem.

Not one hypocrite's name you mentioned above comes anywhere close to pedophilia. And Weiner didn't send any pics to teens, don't exaggerate. Equating all politicians with a pedophile is a pretty lame defense of the pedophile. Be honest, if he were a gay democrat humping children every conservative pundit in the land would be apoplectic and foaming at the mouth demanding that he be prosecuted. It would be the principle subject 24/7 for years on Fox News.

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert paid a man to conceal a sexual relationship they had while the man was a student at the high school where Hastert taught, a federal law enforcement official told NBC News on Friday.

The guy committed bank fraud. The reason doesn't matter. Once they have a case, they are going to move forward.

If there was actual blackmail, law enforcement will get around to it.

Also... **** Dennis Hastert, yet another scumbag politician ****ing up people's lives for no reason except that they can. I hope he dies in prison.

I agree that both major U.S. Political parties are corrupt. However, Republican hypocrisy is ultra sickening. The party that stands for fiscal responsibility and "family values" including blocking civil rights for gays was led in the house by a crook who raped (yes raped, as a teacher f*cking his students is rape) his male students
