PokerStars selling email addresses? PokerStars selling email addresses?

I have received promotional emails from two local Indian casinos sent to the unique address I used to sign up with PokerStars. I suppose the new owners are monetizing assets. Any promise that Stars would keep your email private and spam free is now null and void.

Sandia and Isleta in New Mexico. So far.

This is actually pretty big news and disgusting if true. One of the most important security measures people can take with their accounts is to use dedicated email addresses and if Stars is basically spitting on your ability to keep your registered email private to make some side money, then that is quite upsetting.

Any chance they will comment on this? Are you 100% sure you have never used that email address for anything else ever? If OP turns out to be wrong, I think the thread should be removed,.

I get a ton of spam to the email I set up only to register for poker sites.

Sites linked to it are Stars, 888, Will hill, Netbet (770), pkr and Everest.

So at least one of them is, most likely more.

Nothing obnoxious about it. Its so hard to believe that they'd do this that without proof its barely even speculation.

If it were the Seminole casinos in Florida, I would give this some credence, due to the recent tie-in between Pokerstars and the Seminole 10M Guarantee live tournament. But I see no reason for any tie between PS & those two NM tribes. Did the promotional emails you received have anything to do with poker?

I'd sooner point a finger at a leak/hack (or sale?) of the PS email list now in the hands of GCG (via DOJ remissions) then at Amaya for selling the list to some outlier Indian tribes.

If it was still PokerStars it would be hard to believe, it's Amaya running the show now though.

Amaya have been pretty bad so far but I still find it hard to believe they would be this bad.

Do you fund your Pokerstars account using Skrill? And the same e-mail address etc.

Actually they dont just sell your email address if local means what i think it does. It s not like they could tell where you live just by looking at your email adress.

Amaya is so much fail. Just over and over and over again they make bad decisions. This is not going to end well.

At this point it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out they stopped segregating funds...

Isn't it the case that almost all PS staff are still there and not much has changed but the board?

Selling all the emails they have would make a sum but not much sense.

It just doesn't seem all that feasible.

It's not just the board. Mark Scheinberg was running the show. I don't know what his title was but he was basically the CEO. Now he isn't and he's been replaced by Amaya. So it's all the same rank and file people but they have a new boss. That boss is clearly not running things the same way Mark Scheinberg was.

It's only a matter of time before we get whistleblowers. Michael Josem would be a great one. I hope he finally gets sick of being their mouthpiece and quits and then does a tell-all AMA.

So you expect tell-all whistleblowers are brewing in the background from a takeover that is what? 3months old? and their revelations would be so groundbreaking they'd reveal it all... in an AMA.

The words witch-hunt and bandwagon come to mind.

It's not like they are going to change and magically stop making ******ed decisions. This is only the beginning. It'll take a year or more for that whistleblower scenario to happen, and one or more 5,000 post thread type ****storms. But I have faith it will eventually happen, based on the terrible decision making they have demonstrated thus far.

Happened to me too, but how do you prove it? I can say I know I only use one address for each site and keep them separate, but again, why would you believe me. How do I prove this? Impossible?

Also is there any way we can ensure Amaya are keeping funds separate, who checks these things? They are in a lot of debt.
