We are happy to announce plans to hold four $1 million freeroll tournaments in 2016 on PokerStars. These tournaments will surely create buzz and generate excitement among players at all skill and experience levels and the injection of $4 million into the economy will help many players' bankrolls.

We're doing everything we can to make 2016 an exciting year for poker, but recognize that 2015 has been tough for many of our players.

Of course that doesn't mean it went unnoticed by us. We care very deeply about what players say and what they expect of us. And we strive to live up to their
expectations.
(((---------- LLOOOOOOLLL

Although we did not publicize it at the time, we did recognize that players might not be expecting as severe a decrease in awards, so we provided a higher level of reward in 2016 than originally planned and delayed implementing the full decrease in rewards until 2017

The funds that previously went to these rewards will be placed in more and bigger online promotions, more consumer marketing campaigns to attract new players and research and development of innovative new products and features. We have mass consumer marketing campaigns featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar Jr; we're launching innovative new poker variants that take advantage of mobile platforms, social gaming and the popularity of other card-based strategy games and e-Sports; and levelling the playing field for recreational and new players by restricting the use of third party software and data mining that give an unfair edge to professionals.

Pokerstars will go the way of the Dodo Bird. It will never recover fully, from Black Friday. It is just a slow collapse at this point, of a company we all once knew and trusted.

There will be new innovations coming along always. Virtual currencies to play poker will be huge in the future, I believe.

There have been two so far. According to this page, one is scheduled for this month, another for November. Going to be a squeeze getting one in in September, what with WCOOP scheduled until the 26th, and in the past PokerStars has used a full week to ramp up the promotions/missions for it.

Link is working for me.

It says "There will be three $1 Million freerolls held in 2016, running in July, September and November. Once registration opens, tournaments can be found under the Tournaments tab in the main lobby."

Equivalent on dot-EU - $30 freeplay offer instead of £20. Same text about freerolls:

If I were Pokerstars I would restructure the entire website. My idea for rakeback being based on player balances only makes sense within the context of how the website is currently structured. I believe that spin and go's accomplish (in spirit) one aspect of what I believe Stars should do to modify the website. A long time ago I had a conversation with Barry Greenstein in chat and the basic conclusion is that NL holdem suffers from three problems that make the game unappealing for big pots in modern day poker.

1. The fear of AA preflop holds everyone back
2. Not enough money preflop to make calling more correct with most hands with modern bet sizing
3. Sets and set mining force the game to play optimally preflop.

Poker just isn't fun anymore because no one wants to make obviously bad decisions. That's why I love hyper turbos, for instance. You're not always facing a better hand when you call. It forces action and bad players get to gamble with small disadvantages many times.

Antes were one of the solutions that Barry agreed with.

The problem with Spin and Go's is that the best players are still going to get most of the top prizes. The structure of Spin and Go's are awful. They should be hyper turbos and six max.

The thing is about big prizes is that they are supposed to be the incentive for recreational players to want to play in the games. But big prizes on the site are going to be cashed out no matter who wins them. So Stars is trying to have two impossible outcomes. They are trying to appeal to recreational gamblers with jackpot like prizes, and also to make recreational player deposits last longer. I disagree that a recreational player wants their deposit to last longer. What they want is the REALISTIC chance to win a large amount of money if they get lucky. If they like the product they will keep buying the product.

Here's an idea for a product that Stars should consider:

Introducing Hyper Millions - New Millionaires EVERYDAY! - Start with as little as 1 cent and become a millionare if you can get lucky enough to win 4 - 100 person hyper turbos in a row.

First tournament 108 players 1c buy-in Winner gets 1 dollar
Second tournament 106 players $1 buy - in Winner gets 100 dollars
Third tournament 104 players $100 buy - in Winner gets 10000 dollars
Final tournament 102 players 10,000 buy - in Winner gets 1,000,000

Then promote the **** out of that and the winners. Stars doesn't like that because they don't want to concentrate that much money to one person so often. But the problem is that Stars assumes that people aren't redepositing because they can't afford to. I disagree for the most part. I think the reason Stars is losing players is because the product is so depressing for recreational players. Taking money away from pros is not the answer. The answer is in the product.

What happens if there are not one hundred million 1c entries every day?

You raise a very good point.

Every single player - including recreational players - play because they want to make money. Otherwise, why play for real money in the first place? There's always play money if they want to play for fun.

That's true. But 10,680 people ponying up $100 to play a 104 person, single seat satellite into a winner takes all $1 million tourney doesn't really seem any more likely.

re : star saviour..

how about if they restructured the website to disengage with ad servers and tubemogul.com website and bs.serving.sys adware/malware?

why has the pokerstars.co.uk have so many "bad" sources attached to their website? only they know the answer.

here is the screenshot in case anyone wants to hit them up with questions on legitimacy of valid cookie files and site data.

we are not downloading just an online poker client here guys let me assure you.

Yeah, things feel pretty bleak these days - am surprised Stars doesn't have any promos running, because once people leave, it must be hard to get people to come back ...

Unibet's supposed to be pretty good - haven't checked them out yet though ...

So many things are a pyramid if you break them down, bad terminology usage. Do you have a boss, does he have a boss, etc? Is there someone under the president, the vice president?

Are mtt's beatable with the current rake/rakeback? And could anyone guess if that would change with the new rewards programme? Am i right in assuming rake/rakeback probably effects mtt players the least?

They are still beatable. And you're right as well about not needing rb as much as other formats.

You are playing mainly SNGs and MTTs, no? Then you probably should not expect much from Uni imo. Sure, there is soft play, but imo too low traffic and not particularly easy to multitable.
