Pokerstars.fr did increase his margins, some SNG's are raked 20% (including 2% gvt taxe)

you should verify things.

state taxes are 2% pokerstars moves from 5% to 7.7% rake . they tripled the rake cap. tripled rake hu and 6max. only state tax is 2% .

Mike,

Other countries charge taxes as well and don't have additional rake; in fact, in the U.S. we have extremely high processor fees and I don't see PokerStars charging us additional rake.

PokerStars has begun a sweeping policy to increase rake in any way they can. Recently they raised the rake on micro-stakes players without mentioning it or updating their website to reflect those changes:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...e-pots-800827/

All of this is likely in response to falling revenues to do the online poker market going through a period of contraction.

I personally don't agree with their new change in policy and have decided to play elsewhere as a result. Many other players are doing this as well.

They know it for sure.

But Stars took that licence and I'm sure they knew how the players will get rapped. In the eyes of the players Stars betrayed them.

you think they are keeping more net rake after French taxes/fees than they are keeping on .com or you know this based on some calculation?

I agree that increased rake sucks but you have to at least acknowledge the reason for the increased rake.

Firstly, PS charges more rake than tax requires.

Secondly, in any event, you are right that this still is mostly because of the high taxation by the French government.

But what do you want the online poker players scattered all around the country do? Travel to Paris and demonstrate in front of the ARJEL office? Is that even possible?

On the other hand, by striking on PS.fr (which is the biggest poker site), they protest against the tax more effectively, although indirectly

Re: pokerstars.FR ON STRIKE !

7.7% != 5%+2%.

What do you think impact the most? Making this kind of action or sending regurlarly some mails to the ARJEL?
PS hasn't been targeted randomly.

I'm just learning about this story. Obviously it's not as simple as I presumed. Will research more.

They do take more than the tax part, they increased their own rake.

French players expect PS to swallow some of the tax, it seems logical.

Other fr sites did partially absorb the tax, despite being way smaller than PS (not benefiting from the economies of scale), showing that it's clearly possible.

As an additional fact, entering the french market now is an investement given that almost everyone is betting that the taxes will be decreased in 18month (law is set to be reviewed at this time) => It is worth losing money now to be strong in this futur juicy market, if it was not the case PS would obviously not be here...

You can find more infos on the other thread http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29...itable-818853/

Not only is this incorrect but it's not like pokerstars couldn't afford to significantly decrease their profit margin from rake even on the .com site.
