I will participate and sit out. We have to support the french players and show the rooms that we are a community.

However, LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ALL THE PRO-REGULATORS OUT THERE. This is exactly what happens when government's step in to "regulate" the online poker world. If/when the US govt finally decides to regulate online poker, you can be sure something similar would happen to this, just like pokerstars.it, etc. Much higher taxes passed directly to the players and probable closed community of pokerstars.us.
The cost of compliance and everything should be covered by the 5% rake (which in my opinion, is way too high).
What service do you use besides housing and food that you pay thousands of dollars a month to use??

+1 for striking on pokerstars.com

Can we join pokerstars.fr to sit out there if we are not playing in france?
Will we be restricted by our ip address or something?

I have informed all my poker friends outside of France.
Many have opened a account specificaly to join the strike.

Would be awesome if the stupid decision of a govt and some pokersites unite the whole pokerworld.

Lets aim for lower rake. Ptr released the article about net losers per nation recently. I am sure, stars rakes close to a billion per year.

For some reason, Full Tilt doesn't yet have a license to operate legally in France. Until then, they are not accepting new french players, but the ones who already have an account on FT can still play in real money. I don't know if you can cash out though.

Yes, this WILL be the end of poker and not only in France. There is no reason for any government to pass on a few hundred million dollars of easy tax money. This will eventually happen everywhere and it will be a crappy situation for all of us. Which is why we need to unite now, not in a year.

i cant imagine they will split up every country..this is just unreal... now that mess with france dont wanna know what the people do in germany or canada if the situation hits them...pokerstars is aware of the situation, that they will die slow and they (cant?)dont wanna do anything against it?

they will be probably 3 big markets in that scenario: USA, EU, and the rest of the world and ps wont have any objections because they will rake much more money even with additional taxes unless we will do something about it.
