Re: pokerstars.FR ON STRIKE !

Segregated markets, fr, it etc etc sites (how many more?) will eventually be the end of online poker as we know it now, it's just that simple.

Without pretending to know enough details to have an idea of what acceptable or reasonable outcome can be hoped for I applaud the effort.

Re: pokerstars.FR ON STRIKE !

The problem here is the idea of the french government that the taxes should be calculated hand by hand which imo is completely absurd. Doing that on sng's or tourneys maybe be ok, but not on cash games. The proportion to the net winning will be very disadvantageous and worse losing players will be playing a lot of taxes and that seems unfair.
Supposing everyone were solid and everyone would lose the the rake+taxes all the money would be gone sooner or later.
So for me taxes should be payed only once and I would pick one of the next suggestions:
1-Everyone pays a certain amount of taxes on the act of depositing (for example when I recharge my skype account I pay 15% of taxes but when I make calls I no longer pay any more, just the call price
2-Everyone pays when caching out.
3-The sites are the ones who should pay the taxes. Obviously this would most certainly force the sites to increase the rake but I think the most greedys would suffer the consequences.

+1. A straight deposit tax explained as such would be understood by all players.

This way players know exactly how much they are paying their government for the ability to play online poker.

Pretty awesome for the French players to go on strike - keep it up, the rake increases are ludacris.

When and if further negotiations occur with PS or the French Govt, you should include the point of international player bases also.

There is no reason why the French Govt can't collect their 2% tax on deposits and then let the players play all the games available on the .com site. All it would need is a .fr site for depositing.

Re: pokerstars.FR ON STRIKE !

But taxes on depositing, make the site win 10000% less than what they win by raking every pot.
Any site would neverdo that, although it would be an absolute dream for any pro poker player.

If they chose this option the percentage would be substantially higher, but would be significantly better than the current situation.

but yeah besides that us yanks don't do ****
Besides what?
Besides nerdraging on forums, like I said.
I remember when the AP scandal broke out, there were even threads made about how profitable would be to play on AP after the fiasco because suposedly the good players left.
It was well known that many high stakes player played long after AP got busted, including durrrr, some pros still play to this day.
Comon now, I feel for everyone that got cheated out of their money but USA players never actually stood up for eachother and never did I get the feeling of a poker comunity at work and you guys never tried to hit them where it hurts, the pocket...like the frenchies did.
While here on 2+2 we wait for those cheaters to come up with a representative to come answer few questions for months , frenchies got the boss off Stars on phone within 3 hours.
So my statement stands.

Excellent idea. Benefits all sides concerned.

-Taxman gets his cut.

-More action French players are welcomed everywhere.

-Pokerstars doesn't get blamed for doing the French government's dirty job.

Good thing is that a lot of people think like you so all you guys have to do is get together like we did.
And maybe one day there will be a International Union of Poker Players

What's hapening right now is really simple IMO it's just the first crisis of online poker. We have to find new solutions to rebuild all this **** with better fondation.

How about everyone on 2+2, whatever country they are from, set their avatar to the "Boycott Raker Stars" image?
