Most have predominantly Muslim populations. The most obvious exceptions are Cuba and North Korea. Not sure how the Vatican fits in, unless it is a smokescreen.

My guess is some blunt-instrument war-on-terrorism pressure from Canada.

so sick, all those countries

To suggest Amaya is a major player in the war against ISIS is just a we bit silly. I don't think my bad beat against the guy from Thailand was funding any ISIS movements. Furthermore I don't think Canada is using Pokerstars as a facilitator to stifle ISIS growth or movement when the immigration laws here are pretty immigrant friendly to begin with. If Canada was really wanting to send a message they would stop allowing thousands in the country a month

There are countries on that list for which embargos exist, but many of them don't have any that should matter to Pokerstars. Weiiiiird move by Pokerstars. Unless they have proof that Stars was being used to move money to certain countries. Like what's wrong with countries like Turkey and Vatican city? Bangladesh doesn't sound too bad either? Then there's a ton of countries where you can argue are a bit shady but the world trades with them every day. Then there's a few black sheep that probably should be forbidden. Really curious what the reason is.

It has to be because a lot of money was flowing to these countries from other countries via shady play/transactions on Pokerstars. Hard to state in your public reports that every month the net value of cash outs in Iraq is 10 million USD or something similair.

All play from IP's within these countries has been banned, not just accounts registered in those countries.. I just tried playing in Iran on my UK account and wasn't able to.

No different than how it's been in the US for the last 3 and a half years.

Glad they didn't pull out from India. Here gambling is illegal too except for Goa and Sikkim.

Its strange that they did not ban all the countries were poker is illegal. I would imagine this has something to do with the new UK legislation and future US legislation. I had a bad feeling for the past week that Poland would be on this list too.

Seems to me Pokerstars -- a publicly traded company via Amaya -- handled this in the best possible fashion. First, they gave a notice to all the players affected prior to these events, and just to make sure there were no misunderstandings, they responded accurately to e-mails and even came to this thread to explain everything.

Almost forgot the heads-up they gave in the PokerCast. Real professionals at work here.

I remember seeing a chart outlining the current situation by country and/or constellation. Anyone know where any updated (or at least the most current) chart is available?

Whilst pretty sick for those affected the positive spin is this could be a positive development long term in creating a regulated and globally accepted market place for poker?

I have a friend who is a Kazak.

She used to work in a casino there, so gambling is definitely legal.

Can't be so sure about online gambling though.

I want to understand, can you transfer or accept transfers or only cashout what you currently have on the account and that's that?

First of all, it does not make any sense for me(a turkish reg. player, making his living nitting on 25nl fr zoom).

I really wonder how money people are playing on pokerstars from turkey.
Most people transfer chips to friends and wire the cash in advance to a bank account.

(However I think most of the money is kept in the system, bc there cant be enough winning turkish players for cashing out, most of them even cant cash out in simple mtts)
So there shouldnt be such a high volume traffic for Turkey.

Otherwise, if it is about going legit, It does make sense for me that stars moving out from these countries, in order to get the license for UK.
