PokerGo was a total fail this year for a few reasons. Obviously the most important reason is that they didn't broadcast the vast majority of the tournaments, including virtually all of the most interesting ones. Close behind that was the terrible logistics (bad website, inability to cancel online, broken payment options, ect).

It seems clear that they were determined to pre-plan some "quality" NLHE broadcasts with Norm and Lon despite the fact that the vast majority of people who are willing to shell out $$ for WSOP streams are hardcore poker fans who are way more interested in seeing good poker then hearing shtick for 15% of the final tables. Whoever at PokerGo thought that it was more important to polish up the production quality of the minimal number of finals tables they are showing rather than showing more final tables should be fired immediately and sterilized.

No. Jeff was only ever going to do the first part of the series. He didn't want to disrupt his schedule later on by committing to work the desk past the first 2 weeks.
He's a player first.

they list it as the $1.5K bounty tournament as the next being streamed, but on Thursday 29th June. The FT of the bounty tournament is actually today (28th)

The original stream was meant to be the monster stack, according to what pokernews published, not on the FT day of the monster stack

I don't really care about either one, but not covering the 50k is just unfathomable.

Hopefully their ME coverage is mind-blowingly good and makes up for all of it.

Riveting stuff PokerGo. Any chance you can stream the $45 daily at Excalibur in place of the Main Event final table? Cancelling tonight.

Really makes no sense to stream that over the monster stack. Why do they need a day off today? If they did the Monster Stack they could take tomorrow off.

The ****ty thing is if/when this fails what is going to pop up to replace it? Probably nothing. I want it to work and am willing to pay so please recognize how you're messing it all up and fix it.

I see they're doing the 10k PLO FT on Friday at least. That's enough for me to keep my sub for now.

Why can't they just stick an overhead cam on the feature table with a decent mic like they did for the secondary feature tables in previous years? They could get away without any commentators for the 'dark' days.

This!

The fact that we have to pay now and we are receiving far less coverage than in previous years is complete nonsense

Been suggested to them numerous times by many people, including by people very close to the production of this. Nothing has changed*

*Unsure exactly who got them to start earlier and stream the HU for the $10K O8 in the 2nd week, but maybe it was mainly due to Phil Hellmuth (he was surprised, according to pokernews, that the whole FT wasn't on stream)

Obviously +1 the idea

What a horrible idea not to air the Monster stack. And to think i prepaid for the whole year. Very interesting FT goes unbroadcasted for no reason whatsoever and yet tomorrow they stream some random 1.5k. Go figure...

Really disappointed with the schedule.

I know they can;t cover every event but Chris Ferguson is at final table of the 10k they aren't streaming tonight. Would have been interesting to see some coverage since he's been so elusive.

And you know what's worse? The monster stack final table will certainly play at that feature table in the Brasilia room but just no stream. When I went a couple weeks ago they had events running on that table even when the stream wasn't running. So there's no reason why they can't at least do like you are suggesting.

That's the sad part. You'll see some jackasses pointing to this PokerGo fail and saying, "see? Streaming poker isnt a viable business!". You have a thread full of people literally begging for the chance to pay money to watch all the final tables, with many of us willing to pay more then $10 for the chance to do so.

People seem to be under the impression that streaming live poker is a massive undertaking and extremely expensive. Maybe it is if you build elaborate sets and hire a bunch of talent like PokerCentral did, but in years past the WSOP streams were shot on webcams attached to tripods and had one paid announcer at a desk. Besides Tuchman's salary, the biggest cost was probably the RFID table.

Bellagio, Kings Casino, and others have gotten into live streaming. Nothing fancy, just cash games on standard RFID setups with a few cheap cameras. They offer this for free and did not break the bank to do so.

You don't even need to have proprietary streaming software. GPL and other live productions figured this out and just broadcasted on Twitch.

WSOP didn't sell streaming rights because it was an expensive burden. They did it because Cary Katz was willing to light lots of money on fire. When (not if) PokerCentral circles the drain, it will not be difficult or expensive to replace it with a leaner production. You just need a few competent people overseeing it.

My hunch is that Caesars cut the budget for the streams and left the WSOP directors with their hands tied. Why the hell would they sign off on this ridiculous deal with Pokergo (which BTW is actually hurting their brand) unless their hands were tied.

I always figured it cost about $750,000 to stream the schedule like they did last year. They also probably earned $100,000-$200,000 in ads and sponsors
Im just bewildered by the lack of creativity by the WSOP. Was this their best solution to fund their streams? Was there was no other options?
