I wouldn't recommend discussing anything to do with breaking any TOS's on any site here, especially here.

I don't think so. Especially on your Stars I think you'll be able to play right up until the deadline and then remove your money once Stars has withdrawn service.

Yes. It's 99,999% that every non-dodgy site in the world will stop offering services to Australians once the bill passes, and to be able to continue you need to relocate yourself elsewhere. Exactly the same as it was with Americans re: black friday. The only options that *may* remain available are dodgy sites that still allow Americans, which are very unsafe and you may never get your funds out of there anyway. It's dire, but that's how it is.

a few rake dollars are less worth than any (future) licence, so operators won't tolerate that. which means, if you get caught, you have problems (rightfully so) ... besides that, i'm not 100% sure, but i think 2p2 isn't the place to discuss such interests

@ topic: it's really sad, especially given the fact, that a few of you really gave their best ... all the best, let's hope this is just a bump on the road and not the end of it

They can't prosecute you for anything , you would just get banned and lose your money.

It's actually on in a few minutes. Paul Murray sees no problem with online poker but is about to discuss it with Peta Credlin who does

neither did i write anything about prosecuting, nor isn't getting banned and losing your bankroll a minor problem for most of the players

ACR might have done some things wrong in there early days which I don't know of but I haven't heard of any issues of them in recent times. Jeff Gross isn't complaining about not getting his 130k off his milly bink. Twitch streamers are now all grinding ACR, and even them banning bills account for dan playing shows they are looking to enforce their own rules. Not sure why you label them as "very unsafe", hey atleast they won't **** their mtt schedule over like stars did.

The discussion went for 30 seconds because he ran out of time. Credlin basically lumped it in with all online gambling and said it's dangerous and another guy chimed in and mentioned money laundering. Murray in response to Credlin said jokingly if that's the case why not ban online shopping.

My dad just told me leyonhjelm said something about getting it legal if enough players voiced there opinion, I'm guessing he is also inferring that not enough players voiced their opinion leading up to this, i didn't see it tho....

**** only has to hit the fan once for it all to come crashing down. ACR is an ILLEGAL operation regulated by no one. It's the online equivalent of playing at an underground casino hoping it won't get raided while you're there. The second something goes wrong your money is gone. Lock poker was way more popular and had tons of pros instead of random twitchers vouching for them and look what happened. I've lost north of $60k to shady sites in the past, and trust me NO ONE saw it coming with UltimateBet or Goalwin or BetOnBet or Lock before it was too late. And all but Lock were even properly regulated.

Sure if you deposit on ACR today and withdraw next week you're ~99% to get your money. But it's still dodgy as ****, and over the course of say two years your odds aren't that good anymore (historically speaking).

***OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE AUSTRALIAN ONLINE POKER ALLIANCE***

As you are by no doubt now aware, our amendment to amend the Interactive Gambling Act (2001) did not pass through the Senate when voted upon today.
We know that this decision has hurt and saddened a lot of the Australian Online Poker Community. Our message to you is - We may have lost today's battle, but we will win the war.

One thing that all poker players should know that it doesn't matter if you lose a big pot, as long as you have a chip and a chair you are still in the game. We are definitely still in the game.

In December last year, when the Australian Online Poker Alliance was formed, the industry generally accepted that we were doomed and that nothing that could be done.

In three short months, we have gone from that position of total helplessness to a position where today:

- An Australian Senator moved an amendment on our behalf

- That amendment received support from Senators representing four other parties

- The Government Minister spoke about the Australian Online Poker Community in the Federal Parliament.

This is major progress that we should all be proud of.

In his remarks, Senator Mitch Fifield said that 'online poker was a debate for another day'. We say - BRING IT ON!

We will take this challenge head on. The Australian Online Poker Community will gladly accept this opportunity to inform the Australian Government about our right to play and the overall benefits safe, regulated online poker has for a free society operating in the 21st century.

Almost every politician we have spoken to over the course of this campaign has agreed with our position. There is no greater example of this than Senator Nick Xenophon, who made clear that he understood our position in his remarks both today and when we met with him in person.

There is no reason that when presented with the facts the government will not do the same and support online poker.

So where to from here?

Firstly, if you haven't already please ensure that you thank Senator David Leyonhjelm for his amazing work in bringing this to the floor of the Senate.

Senator Leyonhjelm is looking to present a Committee Inquiry to have this law amended. If you haven't already let him know that you support this move and that you are willing to help. Let the Australian Online Poker Alliance know as well because we will work with the Senator on behalf of our poker community to ensure the message is strong.

Secondly, please recognise and support those Senators and parties who voted for our motion today. These Senators voted against both the government and the opposition to represent us which is never an easy task. Thank you to Senator Derryn Hinch, Senator Cory Bernardi and One Nation Political Party members Senator Pauline Hanson, Senator Malcolm Roberts and Senator Brian Burston - NSW Senate - One Nation.
Thirdly and most importantly keep bringing the noise. This is not the end, this is just the beginning of a fight that we can and will win. Stay connected with our page and keep in touch to find out how you can help in this fight!
It will be long and it will not be easy but if we work hard and stay focused we can still leave our mark on Australia by ensuring #AusFight4Poker is a success!

Thank you.

Joseph Del Duca on behalf of the Australian Online Poker Alliance

If you spent $50 on your VPN you're not looking at realistic options.

But again, not the right thread for this.

Also it's now not on the House of Reps schedule today but it's in the Notice Paper

Joey (or anyone else who might know), do we know what the position of Crown, The Star and other brick and mortar casinos is on online poker? Do they actually support it, or do the see it as a threat to their existing business?
