Reid FEC = Reid Federal Electoral Conference.

The 150 'seats' that make up the House of Representatives are actually called Federal Electoral Conferences. Political parties are generally divided up into these areas.

The meeting last night was a meeting for all party members who live in that area. As a group we last night told the party that we support online poker being allowed in Australia.

This means
- The Prime Minister and Ministers will be informed that this portion of the party feels this way
- The Party Executive will be told that this portion of the party feels that way
- The MP that represents our area will know that this is the view of the people who elected him
- We can now show cause as to why this needs to be debated on a whole party level as members of the party believe that the party should support this measure.

It is actually more powerful than just 1/150th of the party. The Liberal Party only holds 76 seats in government so this is 1/76 of those seats and give the MP the opportunity to tell the party room that this is how the area voted. It makes it clear that this isn't his personal opinion, it is the will of the people he represents.

In and of itself this is nothing major but it is a step along the way. The first debate we had was a branch, then we did it over a Federal Conference. From here we will move to get the entire state of NSW on board and from there we will go for changing the Federal Liberal Party policy.

P.S you are not a tard. The fact that I know a lot about politics and you know a little is really a bigger leak in my life than it is in yours... I need to get out more!

Was playing 1/3 at the crown tonight, someone brought up stars, and the majority of the players at the table revealed they play quite often. I brought up the bill being on the table this week, and not a single person knew that the issue was even up for a vote, let alone was in a couple days. So much good work is being done in here, its just a shame there wasnt a longer time horizon to get the word out.

It still may be the vote still isn't guaranteed to happen this week it could get pushed back.

Annoyingly Crown and Star can't get involved even posting from their FB page would help, they have to know a healthy live/online scene compliment each other and player numbers will fall in the longer term with no online satellites/online pros all moving out of Australia/less people getting into poker in general due to not getting their start playing online.

Monday action plan Joey? I'm all moved into the new place and ready to make some calls/emails

This is why I'll never understand why people like Adelson and Wynn are huge anti-online gaming supporters. Sure, general casino visitors have a finite sum of money to be used on gambling, but they have the infrastructure and cappital to invest heavily in legal and regulated gaming + poker, which would do nothing but increase revenues and get more foot traffic into their casinos as people are further exposed to the games and brands.

As for Crown, they directly benefit from having online poker legal in Australia. Any people who discover poker via online are going to be looking up where they can play live, and just so happen to have one of the largest rooms in the southern hemisphere sitting at the Crown.

Conversely if there are less games online people will be forced to play live or not play at all. Still pissed that they aren't getting involved in this though.

This is very short sighted as it is good for only this generation. The poker economy needs players learning online and transforming to the live sphere.

The guys at Full House Group (APL and countless other pub poker leagues) have been a big supporter of our cause for this exact reason.

Monday Action Plan!

Senate resumes this week. If you don't act now it is too late.

We are leaving it up to you to decide. How much or how little you want to do is up to you.

At this link you will find a list of every Senator eligible to vote on our legislation.

http://www.aph.gov.au/Senators_and_Members/Senators

Please either:

- Call one Senator in your State

- Call every Senator from one parfty in your State

- Call every Senator in your State.

As they are all in Canberra use the PARLIAMENTARY number on their page and say the following:

"Hello, my name is <INSERT NAME> and I live at <INSERT ADDRESS>.

I am calling as I would like you to support Senator Leyonhjelm's amendment to the Interactive Gambling Amendment Bill and keep online poker, a game I love, in Australia.

Thank you."

A phone call will take no more than two minutes of your time. Calling 10 Senators will take 20 minutes. Will you give up 20 minutes of your day for the game we love?

And they actually did the first item in a reasonable amount of time, if the omnibus bill doesn't get in the way there's a real chance this actually gets debated today

I was reading Leyonhjelms amendment suggestion, why is blackjack in there along with poker? Surely that can't be good, not only for the obvious reason of online blackjack not being a skill game, but also because I don't think it's even possible to somehow allow online blackjack without then allowing all casino games?

What are these Xenophon amendments (three of them total), can they be of any help to us?

What odds do you guys think we have if it gets debated this week? If the bill passes without amendments is it pretty much effective immediately, or is there still some round of bureaucracy stuff left?

Its not about the type of games. Its about wagering companies providing servies to Austalia online. This they are trying to ban.
