pretty certain, by the way they are talking, that these people have barely ever used the internet.

Joey will know a little more if hes on the ground and speaking to the real people behind the bill but a couple of political commentators (david lipson, paul murray, laurie oaks) this morning suggested that the government is seeking the bill to come into effect immediately once signed into law by the governor general if passed. Part of the legislation gives international operators 3 business days to stop offering services to Australian based IP customers, or to lodge an application to seek location within Australia to offer their services. Afaik amaya, party, 888(already left) have all said that once this bill is signed into law they will adhere to the regulations and leave. So on that basis, they will stop offering services within 3 business days if the bill were to pass and be signed into law.

As for when or if the law gets passed and signed into law, ive got no idea, but id guess sometime within the next 3 months and with certain before the new financial year starts.
