We have had some good track through with our contact MP form. We are getting closer to having 1000 people email their MP but we still need much more than that.
We have some meetings booked in over the next couple of weeks. I am still trying to organise a few more.
I am trying to get a meeting with the Minister. I have contacted his office asking for a meeting as has my local MP on my behalf. We haven't heard anything concrete yet but this is not unusual and isn't concerning. If we haven't heard back in a week then I will be looking at upping the ante and using social media to request a meeting on behalf of poker players.
All in all the MPs I (or others) have spoken to have given me the impression that they don't think our request is unreasonable which is great. I am hoping that the more positive letters that we get from MPs to the Minister the more likely we can get his attention and hopefully get the change we need.
Awareness
I have had some chats with a few bigger name poker players and some sport and media types who have shown interest in supporting our cause to raise awareness. I am hoping to hold a fundraising/awareness tournament and have spoken to the Star as well as a major pub poker operator about doing this with us. Nothing concrete yet but I will let you know how that goes.
We have also provided some quotes to some mainstream newspapers which will be good if that gets published (hopefully this week but who knows).
I also had a chat with the journalist at Pokernews who was covering this and am going to organise to work with him on an article on Pokernews to help raise more awareness about our campaign.
Action
Can I ask you guys if you have received a response from your MP that you post it here?
Also if you haven't received a response let us know too. It will be good to keep track of who is answering and who isn't for later reference.
Obviously if you haven't contacted yet. Hit the link above and do it. We need a lot more people. Please get your friends and relatives to contact as well. Literally anyone that is on the electoral roll can get in touch. There is no such thing as too many people contacting.
Obviously nobody is obliged to but If you want to keep contributing $ please send to 'JosephDel' on Pokerstars. I have three adds running on FB and Instagram atm (you hopefully have seen these). They are going quite well so I would like to keep this going. I also have some trips to Adelaide and Canberra coming up for politician meetings that I need to fund. Happy to cover these myself if I have to as they were my idea to go. In saying that any help is appreciated.
I think that sums up most things. I will keep plugging away from here.
Gee this is going to suck if this gets banned not that am a big winner but just love the game and have been playing online for 10+ years and like most have spend a **** load of time studying the game
Anybody who complains but hasn't contacted their mp yet needs to do so immediately. I'll organise a day for a group to show up and protest at tudges Melbourne office when I get a chance over the next week or two. This isn't the end yet the legislation hasn't passed yet. Stop being funking lazy and contact your mp and post any replies you get in thread. Mention Joseph del ducas proposal or use the taxpayers contact form.
Anyone in for tudge office protest lmk I'll organise a time anyone in Melbourne can spare an hour or two. It's far easier to stop this now than after the legislation passes.

Same here - I'm not a professional player or a big winner. But I've put in some huge volume at various phases over the years. And these days I like to jump on Stars when I have the chance to play an MTT and every now and again it gives me an extra $2k or so for the week if I run-good.
It's such a ****ing harmless hobby (for me). This is so sick.
I used to have a REAL gambling problem. Poker FIXED it.
If we can't influence change, the ban could start as early as feb.
If you can get money in and out, you'll be able to play sites that offer games to the US
Is it possible to get a snip in this thread and have everything related to the current legislation and campaign against it moved to a separate thread?
I want to redirect people here for the most up to date information and it's a little annoying that the thread begins with 30 pages of 3 year old, out of date, speculation.
Post #805 would be the appropriate place to snip it. Hopefully with a title like "the struggle for online poker legalisation in Australia."
Jason Somerville is going to be streaming the Aussie Millions on Twitch soon which is going to attract a decent amount of Australian poker fans. If we got the message to him he could help spread the word throughout his broadcast and encourage more people to sign the petition/email there local MPs.

I have read the Senate report. 2 points stand out.
1) Protect 'vulnerable' Australians. These people will still have credit cards and will remain vulnerable.
2) Loss of tax revenues on offshore gambling. Here is the real rub.
Amazing how politicians feel Aussies incapable of making informed decisions when there are tax $$$ at stake, yet happily count votes for themselves to give a mandate for poor policy. If we are not capable of forming rational decisions on what to do with our time and money then I suggest we repeal compulsory voting, after all, witness the quality of the current crop of leaders and politicians.
So I dont know if anyone else has posted this already but 888 is still allowing me to play and they have blocked people from seeing my location. There are other Aussies still playing that also just have 888 flag in the lobby for location
I assume none of them are playing from within Australia though?
I am playing from within Australia. My account information is update, including full address and current phone number. I have played from multiple computers and multiple IP addresses. 888 hid my location from other users maybe a month ago

i have a friend that has been able to play daily on the site from Sydney with a hidden location in his lobby since the pull out date. He also has had 2 cashouts processed since the pull out date.
