at least you have no boss, you get to make your own hours, you get to work from home (I assume)

and it's better than making big macs

unless you are just godly at poker and destined for the nosebleeds then yeah poker sucks. Anyone pro should be thinking of making as much money as possible and saving it and then doing something else once you go crazy.

Poker makes you lazy as hell. You have no routine. You cannot wake up before noon. and you feel you accomplish nothing in life. Basically poker used to be good before the port security bill, but now it is so slow.... ugh boredom kills...

I should try the hooker route!

Re: Playing poker professionally is a $hitty life

It just depends on your alternative options. If you're qualified to go make 6 figures doing a *relatively* low stress job for no more than 40 hours a week with decent job security than yeah go do that. If you would be waiting tables, driving a delivery truck, or doing some entry level corporate job where if you work your ass off for ten years you'll end up earning like 65-80k, then poker may be your best option.

We all feel burnt out sometimes but trust me non poker playing people do too.

i think if i was ever pro I would force myself to have a semi normal routine, or I would go crazy.

Meh, there are other things to life than money...

Haha... But yeah, I'm actually serious.

Edit: If you don't absolutely love what you're doing -- namely being a poker pro, then you shouldn't do it, because you'll get burned out sooner or later. Basically like most things you gotta do for money...

Re: Playing poker professionally is a $hitty life

In 2005 I made $450,000 and YES i paid taxes on it. and in 2006 I made $550,000 and YES i paid taxes on it.

I don't play as much, but I think if I did I would probably do $100,000.

I am completely unemployable as I have not had a job in 6 years. Get out of this career. It's boring (after a while) and you feel useless
