I got in the $545 Limit Hold'em event at the Commerce. There were only eleven tables and you had to make the final table to cash. After a few hours Chino Rheem got moved to our table. He was ultra aggressive and played a lot of hands. He piled up the chips and then lost them all back. He's an excellent player for sure, and fun to play with. He doesn't act like a big shot or try to lord over people or belittle them. He is still a poker player to the core, talking about hands and making reads (and good ones too). I beat him one hand and he told me exactly what I had. I hate that!
I know this is a small event for him and he was playing a make or break style. A couple of breaks and he's in the money. Alas, not to be and he busted out. So did I with 34 players left. I went deep but not deep enough. Same as in the HORSE tourney last Saturday. Twenty two tables and they only paid the final two. I got down to six tables. It definitely is not easy to make the money in a poker tournament.
I've played very few live tournaments the last two years, maybe 10-12 total. This year I want to try to play more, like 20-25 events. It's not easy anymore. I'm totally drained the next day after playing a tourney for several hours. I can't play them back to back.
Oh one more thing, Jerry Buss was sitting at the next table. Someone at our table remarked why is he playing in such a small event, because the money means so little to him. I told him that Jerry loves to play and is very competitive. He can't play sports anymore at his age but he can play poker. He loves to do well and see his name in print for poker, and not Lakers related stuff.
Al Barbieri was at our table too. He is killing at the Commerce so far, with two firsts and a second! Very funny guy but he rubbed his neighbor the wrong way and they got in a beef. Matt came over and Al mouthed off and he got a two round penalty. That just about killed his chances and be busted out shortly after he got back in the game.

Al's actually a nice guy. He has more than one pet peeve tho and sometimes he'll rub some people the wrong way. lol now that I think about it he's kinda like Helmuth in a way.
First time since 06 I didnt make it down to LA

Um, why would he? Because he got a little TV time a couple of years ago?
That's exactly why a lot of people would act that way. Chino has always struck me as being pretty cool and respectful for the most part. I remember hearing him make one comment during the WSOP that was pretty out of line but not as bad as many.
