Re: Pineapple poker - your thoughts.

Sorry, but if it was going to "catch on" it likely already would have by now to a bigger response.

Re: Pineapple poker - your thoughts.

Pineapple should definitely be introduced by Stars and FTP. The only game that has caught on other than Holdem is Omaha which is the only game other than Holdem which uses community cards... except Pineapple. Players seem to gravitate more to games that use community cards and for this reason alone Pineapple should be offered.

Played Pineapple once in Vegas (4-5 years ago) and I remember really enjoying it.

You have to distcard after flop action iirc so you see the turn w 2 cards and there are SO many times, even w a good dealer someone doesn't and has a dead hand. Just one of those and goodbye rec player.

Re: Pineapple poker - your thoughts.

I think they have/had this game on PartyP. I tried to sit on few of those tbls couple of times and wait for action but it newer ran more than like 3 hands... I could not even try it on playmoney cus it did only run on 100/200 and i did not have a buy in for that lol

omaha didnt really cause a boom. im thinking this has a better chance, since it turns to holdem.. eventually. lol i dont know. i would just like to see if tv ratings for this game would be good or not. limit obv not. but NL pineapple would be awesome in my opinion. howard doesnt agree.. but i think it could be worth having, atleast.

Re: Pineapple poker - your thoughts.

The problem is that NL Holdem didn't cause a boom, every modern "boom" was caused by ESPN televising of the World Series of Poker and the stories wrought from it (From the old school gambling visage that the likes of Brunson and Moss and Baldwin exuded to the obvious Moneymaker Boom), with side help in the new millennium by the availability of Online Poker. It just so happens that NL Holdem is the modern game.

Re: Pineapple poker - your thoughts.

Agree with your posts but just to clarify never said Omaha caused a 'boom'. I said it 'caught on'. If you look at total online playing volume here is an estimate (remember reading this somewhere but dont remember source so lets call it an estimate) of how it breaks down:

Holdem 80%
Omaha 10-15%
Other 5-10%

So games with community cards represent 90-95% of playing volume. And agree that since Pineapple is even more similar to Holdem than Omaha it stands a good chance of being successful. There is a 0% chance that Pineapple will cause another 'boom' though.

Getting quarterd or thirded for low is common. That's not too horrible at limit but a disaster for your stack. Action is the reason to play and NL would kill the action.

here's the big question..

why?

from running twice in 5 years at vegas casinos?

from never getting any exposure?

from never being brought up?

i think the pokerstars/fulltilt guys need to really consider this. i might be a crazy canadian.. but id go nuts playin pineapple NL.

Re: Pineapple poker - your thoughts.

Pineapple was available back in the day on like Tiger Gaming or UB or something...

It's kinda fun but would never catch on for anything above micro stakes.

Re: Pineapple poker - your thoughts.

I used to play this NL pineapple in one of the local casinos here in Sweden and the rules were basically holdem with 3 cards, throw 1 away after the flop. I loved it!
