Although he is a respected figure in the poker world, casinos regard him as a ‘hit and run’ gambler, with a tendency to ‘quit after just a few hands if he wins big’.
So he's not a degen, but a disiplined gambler, therefore he's labeled as a HnR? GFY Crookfords

His only chance to get that money is if Pokerstars buys the casino

So several weeks ago Ivey walks into a London casino, slaps $1.6m onto the table and basically declares that he's all in? Mbn.

Does he still owe "brand FTP" money that he borrowed from player funds?

The man said put it in his bank account dammit!

Did he borrow from player funds?

Or did ftp decide to pay him with player funds?

Sorry mr. Ivey

We should have kept an amount of money equivalent to the value of the chips in play in separate accounts, but we didn't. Instead, we distributed that money to the casino shareholders.

Att.
it's problem

Ivey was nothing to do with the decisions to take dividends from FT, he wasnt even on the board.

Not sure either was/is proven as yet.

But was player money borrowed, then not paid back?

If not, then he has ZERO excuses to not pay it back after this story.

Is so, then pay the man obv.

Money was borrowed, a guy borrowed money from his employer.

Is what ivey owes enough to pay us back?

How much does ivey owe in comparison to.player funds?

I doubt hes whats holding us back, so why care about what he owes to pokerstars/ftp and how they will use the money he gives back, they might give it to the board if they havent already cause he might have given it back.

Principle involved here. But it's that type of care free attitude with other peoples money why things went tits up in the first place.

Agreed, but I chuckled at the comment I saw on Reddit:

Quote:
I hope he hears and gets nothing but stone cold dead silence for a year, then the owner of the casino can grant an interview because "he feels the time is right for Ivey to get an explanation", at which time the owner claims "I don't know" to everything. Then the casino tries to find somebody else to pay him his money, and pats themselves on the back about how hard they are working on it. In the meantime, all the casino owners rent Lear Jets to fly around the world and have lavish parties, all on Phil's money.

But you cant blame ivey until you can prove he did wrong.

Not to say that you blame him but I dont think he ever said he wasnt gonna pay the money back.

Until its proven that ivey knowingly took player money and has refused to pay it back then I cant be mad at him even if I want to!

I like how a lot of people are assuming FTP money that Ivey received is a large part of his bankroll and allowed him to play those ultra high stakes games and more importantly have a care-free/idgaf about money attitude about it that upsets people on this forum. While its probably true for some of the other ftp pros and visible on poker after dark and such, its definitely not true for Ivey/Antonius given how much we know they have won.

From the famous anecdotes, to his demeanor, and records, we can assume Ivey has a ridiculous bankroll. Ivey beat some of the best online players (Gandolf, hoss_tbf type ppl in addition to the regs) for 20M+, and he was known to be gambing very high before FTP became big.

Should Ivey deserve the flak for not giving a **** about FTP on the business side, missing all the board meetings etc? yes. But I highly doubt Ivey was thinking when playing these games post-BF, oh **** FTP they gave me so much its just a freeroll or smth along those lines

Daily Mail article so certainly false, also pathetic that thread descended into FTP derail within a dozen posts

I agree to an extent.
Even if he has 20m (w/out
FT $), he's still a complete degenerate playing 150k a hand vs the house..? no way he can be an overall winner..?

I lol at all the people calling Ivey a degen.

17m tourney winnings,

20m online cash game winnings

always ahead in the pits

not counting his live cash winnings

How do you call this man a degen when he completely crushes all forms of gambling ?
