Also, if we will EVER see a reaction at the poker table from Ivey, it will be when he ships the main. But we won't.
from what i have read in this thread, i would not be surprised if sometimes he ws not listening to any music, but keeps them on so that people do not talk to him.

Remember when i first got into poker around 2005.
I had no idea what 2plus2 was at the time and didnt ever look at Poker News so i had no idea who had won the 2005 Main Event.
I had watched it for a few weeks on Bravo (UK channel) and was just watching the start of the final table and at the first ad break they had a Pokerstars commercial something along the lines of 'Home Of The World Champions' and then had Moneymaker Raymer and Hachem all stood next to each other with their respective year under their name.
Thanks for that lol

Oh also Phil Ivey is teh Stone Cold Nuts.
If i ever get out to Vegas im probably gonna stalk him from the craps table to Bobbys Room to the toilets and will probably stand right next to him at the urinals to check out those stone cold nuts.

he only listens in the beginning stages of tournaments, ala grind mode, and i've asked him before, he has a lot of different types of music, think bob marley is popular for him.

Re: Phil Ivey is the Stone Cold Nuts

Good article.

Can someone familiar with craps tell me how big the houses edge is if you play perfect strategy? From googling it seems like it varies quite a bit depending on what you do.

Re: Phil Ivey is the Stone Cold Nuts

It depends on the bet. Certain bets have less house edge than others I believe.

Ivey plays pass and come bets with full odds behind each. Depending on how much you can put behind in odds, the total house edge on all his money can range from 0.61% (2x odds) to 0.18% (10x odds), or even 0.02% if he can find 100x odds.

At the two casinos in the article (Foxwoods and Montreal) Ivey was playing with 3-4-5 odds, which puts the house edge at 0.37%.

Re: Phil Ivey is the Stone Cold Nuts

Betting pass line (house is slight favourite) and then pressing odds (putting money behind at REAL odds/Even edge) swings the odds closer to face/par value (but house is still favored, but it is the best bet you can make in crap I think).

When the Button is ON, and you bet the numbers like 6 and 8, its gives the house a slight edge, compared to if you bet 4 or 10 where the house edge is larger.

If you bet dice props, like Hardways 8 (roll 4+4), Hardways 6 (roll 3+3), etc; those bets are the ones that favored the houe a lot. By 10% and more.

Re: Phil Ivey is the Stone Cold Nuts

Just got my copy of ESPN the mag in the mail with Phil's face all over the front of the mag. The paper article has more pictures, mainly of him in his SLR McClaren.
