Re: Olivier Busquet Appreciation Thread

I had the pleasure to play and chat briefly with Olivier in a 3 handed 20/40 NL game at the Aria. I coolered him in a 10k pot for stacks with T9 vs 88 on QJ8A and he handled it well but decided to pack it in for the night shortly after. Thanks for leaving me alone to play the Chinese business guy hu for hours before a drunk guy joined the game around 5 am!

I'll probably be subletting in NYC this autumn and I hope we can grab dinner when I'm out there. Take care.

Re: Olivier Busquet Appreciation Thread

Wow I must have been watching something else cause I didn't find his commentary to be anything special. Lots of saying he wouldn't have done bluffs after they failed and how great bluffs were after they worked.

edit: wow didn't know he was livb, guess he is better than I gave him credit for. I still didn't think what I heard of his commentary was all that insightful though.

props for crushing husngs. too bad Ive seen the darkside.

I for one, am not a fanboy
Measuring someones character or "true colors" by their most tilted, angry, emotional moments doesn't make sense to me at all..... though I agree he was so out of line.

Real character should be based on how someone acts 95%+ of the time to family, friends, fans, and other regular interactions... not online poker chat

edit: and i have to say his thoughts, brain sequences, and ability to reform them into words is absolutely mesmerizing

Re: Olivier Busquet Appreciation Thread

Saying you shouldn't measure someones characters by how they act when they are tilted and angry is like saying you should measure a poker players skill by how they do when faced with really easy decisions.

He was one of the best poker announcers that I have heard so far. I hope I have a chance to enter his contest. It tells you what a grounded and stand up guy he is by not taking on students. Far to many unqualified poker coaches that charge way to much for their services.

Cheers Olivier

Re: Olivier Busquet Appreciation Thread

I've had several situations where I had serious chat wars with opponents and eventually met them in real life only to find that they were just the opposite of how they acted online. I'm definitely biased from that smallish sample of instances, however, I too have acted like a huge douche in chat before and don't think I'm a huge douche in reality :P

Have you never stooped below your moral standards during an online tilt rage session? I think it's way different online than live. If you tilt and go crazy live I believe it says more about your true character.

Want to chime in to say that Busquet's commentary was by far the best I've ever heard. I too hope ESPN offers him more opportunities.

Thanks Olivier!

I felt like I was watching a free coaching video and a great one.
I couldn't see most of it though, is there anyway to find those videos on the web?

keep it up!

Oh btw I'm glad we share the same first name, hopefully you're increasing popularity will make people here in the US finally pronounce "Olivier" correctly.

It was live yes, but you can find the episodes online. If you can't, PM me and I'll help you out.

I too really hope that Livb gets invited more, he's an earthy guy with good explaining abilities.
