Like, I vaguely recall your name but I have no idea where in the process we were. Respond to the last email we exchanged and I'll look into it tomorrow.

That's odd, I respond to most PMs involving infractions unless it's obvious no response is really required.

I promise to respond promptly next time you PM for any reason.

There was a very interesting thread about FTP2 not honoring IronMan point for US players, despite earlier announcements that they would. It was originally posted in NVG and moved by a mod to the Zoo.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...p-pts-1280945/

I believe it would be much better suited for NVG for 2 reasons:
1) US players are not likely to read the ZOO since Black Friday, and are much more likely to read NVG as they await info on the return of FT money
2) This report is being discussed between players based on information from FT support and has not been addressed by any official sources.

This issue deserved wide discussion that can happen only in NVG. It amounts to thousands of dollars for many players.

There is an NVG thread related to FTP issues that is still running, and it can be discussed in there.

Also IP is one of the top five forums in this site, so the idea that a thread in IP will get no attention is off base.

How can a poster even tell if they've been infracted? And is there a system in place like first then second infraction, then temp-ban, then perma-ban?

You receive an automated PM when you receive an infraction (or warning). There is also a tab in your profile that will show you any infractions you've received, which mods can see as well.

There's no hard and fast system - some forums use warnings and temp-bans other than infractions. The more of a history someone has of being disruptive, the more likely the next incident could lead to a permaban. As far as points go, receiving 100 points worth of infractions is pretty much always a permaban.

I think most of the NVG mods tend to use infractions more than temp bans for minor issues, and escalation of points isn't uncommon (10 pts. for the first infraction, 20 for the second, and so on), although if a poster only gets one infraction every few years there wouldn't be any escalation, and a severe enough infraction could result in a large point total even if it's a first infraction.

Established posters in general get more leeway - a poster with this month's registration date who already has a trolling infraction and is trolling again may just get OTBC (one touch banned and cleared).

Really, though, each forum and mod is different.

Can anyone tell me why one of the administrators of 2+2 was demoted/banned?

This is not an NVG issue, so no, and we generally dont discuss internal issues.

HA, made me laugh. truth hurts.

also I propose the Week of Jan 20th be totally Mod free in NVG. we will all see just how screwed up this place would be without the efforts of the volunteer mods. just sayin.

I have never even been interested in such a topic as this, but I respectfully request that you unban Johnny Hughes. If he needs his own private mod/editor, I'll do it, and would be happy to do so.

Well, yea, of course. Still thought there might be a reason to make an exception for an older guy that is so interested in poker history. I think this is a really bad decision, for probably good reasons, but one that could be easily rectified with some foresight or some recognition of the very significant nature of his posts.

He gets flamed, and responds badly. Stop that. But give him an option to provide the information about what he knows, if you find that at all credible, please. Has anyone talked to him, personally, about this?

You should prlly start a thread in About the Forums.

No. Don't listen to him, it's common knowledge here that if you start a thread about a legitimate concern in ATF you will be ridiculed by the trolls and derailers, not that your concern is legit anyway it's a bit stupid but don't listen to LeonardoDicaprio.

Yes. Mason talked to him personally and asked him to stop doing the things he was doing that would lead to him being banned. He did not stop.

The only people who could overturn the ban at this point is the mod who banned him (not me) or Mat. From what I've seen, this is unlikely to happen. I consider that unfortunate because when he was following the rules he added something unique to the forum, but that doesn't give him license to do the things he was doing.

This issue was already addressed in the ATF thread I already linked.

Well, OK. Thank you for responding. I appreciate your understanding about why I think what he started to say was important to be shared. He just didn't do it particularly well, and followed up in an incredibly bad way.

Just a minor clarification - both PP and I work for/with Mat & Mason in different capacities, and the modding itself is purely voluntary as it is for all other mods. Since we work more directly with Mat & Mason, they know us "IRL", etc., we've been trusted with some administrative powers that allow us to help out a little more. In my case, some of the administrative powers allow me to set up advertisers' accounts, etc.

In the end, any major site decisions are going to come from Mat & Mason. We might have a little more direct input than others, but they are the ones ultimately in charge.

This would be a question for Mason. But I never really get why it bothers anyone that it's filtered - you can either be more creative with your wording, or be satisfied that our clever posters know what the **** you're talking about when you call someone a ****ing *******.

As has been mentioned, there is an ATF thread about this already, but for those of you who are talking like we need to give him "another chance", it would be something like his 10th or 20th. He was always given a lot of latitude here; more so than almost anyone else.

It's also kind of funny to see people who had no idea he was banned and say he should be brought back because he was such an asset - he's been banned for over a month, and you're just missing that asset now? That said, I know a lot of people really enjoyed his posts, and that's part of the reason he was given a lot of leeway, but you should also know if you don't already, that many people didn't care for his posting.

Glad you find it funny that folks that don't work for the organization realized, on an off day, that such a dude might be missed. I get that he got a lot of leeway, and that a lot of folks found him, for lack of a better word, queer, but don't find insult with the folks that might have found his stories entertaining.
