I wasn't one of the people arguing in that thread. I didn't come here to argue. I only posted here so that yours wouldn't be the only opinion the mods would hear on the subject.

I think it would be great if moderators posted why threads are locked/ closed. Some mods seem to do this more than others.


Example: Today I noticed two closed threads pertaining to possible cheating that were locked with no explanation.

This would be more appropriate in ATF.

In MTTSNG one particular problem is mods answering a question then locking the thread to prevent anyone giving a different opinion and there is no forum to call them out on it. NVG has a moderation thread though where you can ask about this kind of thing.

Somewhat topically I am just listening to the SGT RJ interview on the the thinking poker podcast right now. Interesting that one needs to be stricter as an NVG mod than as a military police officer

I closed the cheating technology thread because, as was pointed out in the thread itself, the "new" technology discussed was in fact several years old and had been discussed before. I thought, as another poster had pointed out this wasn't new news, that the reason for the closure would be obvious. Sorry for not being clearer.

As my post was originally made in NVG and moved here and I have received a warning about posting in the wrong forum, I would like to say: There are many forums on 2 plus 2 and it would be hard for most posters and readers to know of all the forums. I did not know of this forum and at the time had thought I was expressing a NVG "view."

Perhaps my post would had been more effective had I left out specific examples. What I was trying to do was bring up a general idea and make a sincere suggestion:

My view is that when threads are locked it would a nice 2plus2 policy if a moderator always left the last post in the locked thread giving his reason.

I am sure that moderating is not an easy task. "Thank You" to all the mods for the very valuable (and sometimes thankless) service they provide.

^ it is still a view you have about the forums rather than news, views or gossip about the poker world in general, so About The Forums makes more sense.

He's clear on that now, it was an honest mistake.

He makes a valid point though, regardless of where he posted it.
I agree it would be nice if the mod closing a thread left a final post of explanation.

His point is valid, and I very often do leave a closing post/note. I did not this time as I thought the reason was obvious (another poster having brought up the fact that this "news" was a couple of years old), but it wasn't as obvious as I thought. I'll bear that in mind for next time I'm phone modding and think, meh, this should be obvious so I'm just taking the short route and locking it down and they'll know why.
