Imo this thread has gone pretty downhill, some awful remarks being made about Tricketts gf etc. Dunno just think badmouthing players spouses is going too far.

I mean, you'd have to ask PP, as I literally have no clue why the thread was closed, but I think the odds that he was contacted by Barry and asked to close the thread are slim. I know that's sort of a running joke whenever a thread about a poker pro is closed or deleted ("they got to the mods ldo"), I've never actually seen that happen. Which I guess doesn't mean it's never happened, but if it has I'm not aware of it, and you'd think it would have been mentioned in the mod forum at some point.

Generally speaking we don't consult with each other over day to day decisions like closing this thread or deleting that post, and we don't overturn each other's decisions without checking with that person first. So even if I thought the Barry thread should be re-opened I'd never do so without asking PP first, and ultimately it would be his decision. But I don't think that was a thread I was following so I'm clueless as to why it was closed.

I'm just about to head out, but if you ever see something you think is getting out of line, use the report post function (that red and white triangle with the exclamation mark inside of it), this notifies every single forum mod and makes it way more likely something will be looked at.

Mods don't read every post/thread so we rely on users to tell us if something is going off track.

The thread was open for a few days and had run its course. No new info - just folks trolling each other. Anytime a thread is closed it can be reopened if someone pms a mod with substantive new info.

All by my lonesome. Have't talked to Barry for many months. Might have to get a new address for the money I owe him.

Beyond the fact that there are previous/ongoing Bitcoin discussions, the discussion about the specific poker site is more appropriate to Internet Poker than NVG.

If someone wants to contact an IP mod (Mike Haven would be my suggestion) and see if he thinks it would work in that forum, I would have no problem moving it if he wants it.

There's like a million bitcoin threads as it is. I've had a few shady experiences already in my short time playing the bitcoin sites they don't need to be advertised more than they already do IMO. Also I'd like to say that I used to hate PP but now I love him and will never troll NVG again.

I came on here to request the reopening of the bitcoin thread but see someone beat me to it.

Bitcoin may not be new but the article in Bloomberg was new, current, and news. If you don't want another thread, how about reopening the Bloomberg thread and merging it with a another Bitcoin thread in NVG?

Like, that article isn't really poker news so much as it's general gambling/bitcoin news.

But as it appears there's a decent amount of interest in the thread for whatever reason, I don't really care that much about it running. If this results in a surge of Bitcoin crap we can reevaluate.

Why do most mods act like middle school hall monitors on a power trip?

It's our "job" to monitor the 'halls' that are NVG and the posts are middle school level hence us power trippin'. Also, if we don't delete at least 200 posts a month we're not entered into the monthly mod $5k freeroll.

NVG mods are the only mods.

And I'm going to reiterate something I've said many times before - almost everyone who makes a decision whether a mod is good or bad is doing so on very limited information. Most posters don't see ~90%+ of what mods do because most of it is behind the scenes - responding to PMs, cleaning up minor issues, discussing a forum issue with the other mods, stuff like that. You want to hate because something of yours got deleted, feel free, but it's pretty silly to do so.

I was guilty of the same thing before I was modded, I had no idea what they actually do.

Johnny hughes was one of the best posters in nvg, its a real shame he was banned. Thats a pretty disappointing move by 2p2 mods. Free johnny hughes!

I agree it was shame, but only in the sense that he went off the rails and started PM spamming and abusing the report function and essentially committing suicide by mod. He lasted a lot longer than almost any other poster would have under the same circumstances.
