As iosys started an ATF thread asking (I didn't see it until it had already been locked): I'm the mod who nuked your PS view thread. And I nuked it because, and I say this without any ill will towards you, it was terrible. Just really, really bad. You obviously know nothing about the PS legal environment in the US.

For starters, PS agreed not to allow US players when they made their agreement with the DOJ. Their TOS reflect this - US players are not allowed on their site. And no introduction of special PS currency would change that. Playing on PS from the US is against both their legal agreement with the DOJ and their own TOS.

So your thread was going to generate nothing except troll/lol responses. Given the time between when it was started and when I nuked it, I had no idea that you hadn't seen any of the responses since you posted it. So now you know. If you have any additional questions you can PM me or ask in here.

Perhaps it might be an idea to simply lock the thread, rather than delete it?

When I nuke a thread shortly after it's started, I usually do, to give the OP a chance to see that it's locked.

In this case enough time had passed that I assumed (incorrectly) that the OP was aware of the responses (saying the OP sucked).

The thread added no value to NVG. I know before I was modded, I used to find a page half full of locked threads, each pretty stupid and with 8 posts each, to be fairly irritating - they just took up space. Hence my standard of nuking threads I believe add nothing.

If a thread is still worth reading in some way, I'll lock rather than delete. If it is, essentially, worthless, then I nuke it.

I didn't know that they had an agreement specifically to deny play for US.
I'm sort of confused how such an agreement can even exist without it being determined that it's 100% illegal to play online for cash.

I also wonder what laws are being violated if any, when people from foreign countries come to US and launch pokerstars to play. Seems mysterious to me why such an agreement would exist :|

Anyone who plays from the US, even foreigners, would have their accounts shut down for violating the PS TOS, which does not allow play from American soil.

And the agreement exists because PS principles didn't want to get dragged into US court. They agreed to pay a fine and stay out of the US and the DOJ dropped the charges against them. Most of the charges weren't "illegally providing poker", they were stuff like altering how PS charges showed up to circumvent US banking laws.

They are large and unwieldy, but there are multiple threads on 2p2 dealing with the PS situation. My advice, if you have questions, is to ask in one of them (ask for just a quick run down of what happened and why) or find someone in the thread who is clearly well versed on the situation and PM them directly.

As I'm sure some of you have noticed, there have been a rash of spammers posting pornographic pictures in NVG lately.

Don't respond to the threads. Don't do anything other than just report the thread.

I feel like I shouldn't even have to say this because it's so obvious but when you respond to a thread it keeps bumping it up to the top of NVG, then new people notice it and click on it and see the image. Which is really what we'd like to avoid.

So just stop ****ing responding to spambotters, mkay?

I ask the thread please be deleted, rather than change the thread title. It is number one on google searches and I don't think that it is fair that I have that label for the rest of my life. I in fact didn't personally type in those comments in the chat box, however I was present when a friend typed in the offending words, I feel just as much to blame but for me to have this profile for the rest of my life at the top of Google is wholly unfair.

Also, isn't the reason it still shows up in search simply an issue of cached info? I just searched your name, and the thread came up #9 with the old thread title - it'll take a while for those results to stop; it doesn't happen immediately after the title change, and deleting the thread won't change those results AFAIK.

The disturbing thing about that thread was an individual used 2+2 as a tool* to take another swing at someone, and it was allowed to survive for way too long, imo.

Yes joe, believe it or not, some people are very bothered by racist language being used at the poker tables. No idea how you link that to wicthcraft, but then I have no idea what you're on about half the time, so I suppose that's no surprise.

Yes, that's right, you caught the OP using inaccurate wording - he should have said that the player used racist language, as he can't prove the OP knows what race he is (and in this case was probably wrong). Of course, it became clear in their exchange on 2+2 that there was a racial target (the OP's avatar), but regardless, many people find the racist language objectionable whatever the OP's race may be.

Actually, you have no idea about the reason, you're just making an assumption. Not sure who's pretending it didn't happen; we're pretty much doing the opposite by not having deleted the thread yet, nor any of these comments about it. As for shooting the messenger...LOL.

If you really want to keep debating this whole racism-witchcraft analogy, as I said, there's a thread in Internet Poker where you can get into that.

If you care to read my posts i was playing my account, with my friend, who is more of a drunken moron than myself, he has no idea how to play poker but thought it may be funny to take the wireless keyboard and trash talk the other players. I'm ashamed because anyone that will know me, and i have been directed to the thread by some fairly well known poker players, that i am neither racist nor abusive. I shouldn't have let it happen at the time but it's done now, I'd just like the threads to dissapear as i don't want it to be the first thing tat comes up on google for the rest of my life.

I was drunk, which is why I allowed it to happen, I thought it was funny at the time, the trash talking not the single racist remark. I can promise you I am not making an excuse for what was said, it is inexcusable, I just would like it to be accepted as a very bad mistake, which will never happen again. There is no made up story, there's no reason for that. I have accepted the blame and have made an apology.
