It would be nice if there were two WSOP discussion threads, one to actually discuss the WSOP and the other to complain that the feeds aren't working. Both of these threads would seem to get about equal traffic.

People in NVG do not have the [insert adjective here] to follow rules like that.

Given the number of threads the mods have had to merge into the WSOP discussion thread (no, guys, YOUR thought/idea/thing you noticed is not special and doesn't deserve its own thread), I'd say gregorio is correct.

Just curious why the thread I created yesterday about the Miami Herald reporting that a poker player had paid $40k for a courtside seat was deleted.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29...e-7-a-1345207/

It's not as if it was set up as a question as to who the player was and therefore once the player was identified there should be no more discussion. I just thought that it was interesting that the newspaper thought it was newsworthy that a "professional poker player" paid for the seat. Now, theoretically, the community may not have been interested to discuss the matter further, but I don't understand the official mod decision to mandate that there could not be any more discussion.

If the decision was based on the fact that the mod thought the thread was sort of an asked-and-answered scenario and locked it because the player was identified, then my question would be what would you have done if the paper had identified the player by name and I put that info in the thread title? See, to me, the interesting aspect was that the media thought it newswrothy to note that a professional poker player bought the ticket; the identity of the player is secondary.

Again, just curious why the thread was locked to prohibit any further discussion.

It wasn't.

I don't know why your thread was locked, but I bet it would have had more of a chance to stay open if you had contributed something like this thought to the thread rather than simply "Just thought it was interesting".

Completely irrelevant as the thread had already garnered interest from others when it was locked.

Just trying to be helpful, sorry. Didn't know your enquiry was to be answered only by the mod who locked it.

If two people speculating on the identity of the player qualifies as "garnering interest" then I suppose it did, but that doesn't make my point irrelevant. Your OP sucked. That may or may not be why it was locked, and I guess we might find out soon enough.

FWIW, it was Mike Haven that locked it. I don't know if he checks on this thread, so if it's important to you, you might want to PM him.

Is it possible for me to become a mod? What would I have to do to make that happen?

You might want to try being a contributing member of the community for a while before you start lobbying to become a mod.

As for what you would have to do to make it happen, that depends on the forum you'd want to mod and how much you're willing to allow Mat and Mason to touch you in your naughty spots.

Why was my very funny post deleted in this thread:

"Re: Greg Merson pissed over something at Aria"

I am a comedic genius and it upsets me so.

You really need to develop a sense of humor.

I have quite a good sense of humor. You need to develop a sense of what is appropriate for NVG,

Am I missing something here. OP was on Feb 12th, no other posts in the thread, then ProfessionalPoker locks the thread because it was about something that happened on.... Feb 12th?

Were there posts deleted that happened between Feb 12th and the thread closure?

At least one post was deleted.

Edit to add:
Looks like cross moderating:

A low content post bumped the thread.
PP wanted to comment and lock.
Another moderator deleted the post around the same time.

You know who knows the answer to your question? ProfessionalPoker. Why make this thread instead of asking him?

Symptoms:
Somebody necro's a thread in a low volume forum. (PH)
A moderator takes corrective action.
Another poster issues a complaint in a low volume forum. (ATF)
Someone with administrative privileges moves the entire thing to a high volume forum (NVG)

Diagnosis:
Bored admin.

Just as an FYI - if you need corrective action taken in a thread or on one of your posts (you'd like something deleted, for example), you are more likely to get a rapid response if you report the post with the little triangle than if you directly PM a moderator. Post reports result in emails to all mods of that forum.

Post reports are for more than just pointing out when other users are being idiots.

There was a no-content post that was deleted. Anytime you have relevant information that you would like to add to a closed thread - PM a mod and it can be reopened.

Why did you lock the Greg Merson thread? You certainly cannot consider me an "idiot", as you have the ability to identify me from my e-mail address. Nor do I need any help in defending my position from those that you might consider "idiots".

It's long past time that someone spoke up about these "entitled" kids who don't appreciate the opportunities that have been created for them by the pioneers. These kids who think that they "created" the poker world that they live in today are who I am talking about.

Of course, there is always the possibility that you consider yourself entitled and are ungrateful for the opportunity that you have that was created long ago by the Binions and the Texas Road Gamblers.
