Both in the March 28 vlog and in his interview on PKRGSSP, Daniel keeps going back to the analogy of someone posting a preference for Mac over PC, that the mods would not research whether or not the poster has a financial interest. But he fails to realize that he admitted as much in the previous episode (start at 5:54):
"What I like most about this concept is the fact that all the players who participate are going to share in the revenue. So depending on how much money comes in on them or on the other players, they're going to get a cut."
His rebuttal is that talking about a WSOP or WPT event is not considered promotional, even though it potentially increases the tournament field and thus increases his equity in it. But this argument fails because his higher tourney EQ is an indirect benefit of such a mention, while increased participation in iSeries represents a direct financial benefit. So there IS a difference between promoting iSeries and discussing another tournament.
Don't get me wrong: in principle, I largely side with Daniel on this whole tempban brouhaha even though I also think he acted pretty childish in its wake. Perhaps that's why I wish he posed a better argument in re self-promotional material.
Finally, I love the nod to Huff And Stapes... but I'm a little concerned that JonV recognized the "money shot" sound so quickly and with such confidence. Just what the hell is going on in Chez Greenstein?
