I see...guess I levelled myself there.

/ thread derail.

Thanks Matt, Tom and Stella. Amazing thread. Can't wait to hear about Tom's HU session if it happens.

Also, I'm really curious who's staking Tom. I'd have to guess Ivey. Don't think he can afford to be playing 6k/12k blinds with his BR, but who knows...

It might not matter if he can afford it or not. You can lose 10 million in that game but durrrr always has been a pretty sick gambler and may be willing to take the risk.

I think what the dude was getting at was a joke... i.e if you come to my party (which me made out to suck 10/20p games and all trying to dress as a park bench) then he got to go to theres. He was fishing for an invite in a jokey way and actually seemed to have got one!

Jealousy!!

The random 2+2 guessing of the net worth of various people in poker has always amused me, but this one tops them all. What information about Tom's BR would you think you have to make this odd assumption?

he was partially staked to play isildur, and blinds were lower than 600/1200, it's not the most ridiculous assumption that ivey has a piece of durrr in this game

having trouble even typing this after reading the post about the guy who thought you could not fold or you would leave the game...i would think after about 3 days he MIGHT just want to see what that strange little button on the left does just to make sure, seeing as he dropped 900 already..just a thought...still an epic story...

and has the durrr HU match still not started or was it pushed back?

Aha, "his" name is Durrrr. I thought the reference was to Tom Hall.

They had a Chinese player that deposited equiv to about US$300 a day for about 20 days in a row and he kept losing every single day, no upward swing whatsoever. Customer support thought they better get in touch with a player so determined to deposit and lose every day and see if they could give him a few pointers or send him to an educational site or something.

Turns out the guy didn't know you could actually fold (thought the fold button meant quit the game) so he either called or bet every single game to the river for 20 days. After the CS guy picked himself off the floor from laughing, the online room actually sent a guy to spend a day training him. The same player has since turned into a damn good player (has won some medium size live events in Macau as well as being a small winner online!!!

Night all!
So, what you are saying is that by "folding" you are NOT forced to call or bet until the river?

True, and I get your point but its just one hand in a vacumn, cant look at it alone. factor in metagame and history.

My biggest question regarding this hand ~

Spoiler:
Did the BBJ kick in!

Well, if Tom has been a big winner in the game up till now, its quite safe to assume that he's got enough gamble in him to put it all on the line in an epic heads up session.

this thread is so so sick. Just out of curiosity, how long would it take someone who beats 1/2 nlhe on stars/ft to grind 1-2k up to 100k playing live in Macau?

At this point I'm thinking of moving after Christmas!!

a long time even if you're winning 75%+ of your sessions

About a year, if you 24-table it every day.

I'm American and I moved to the UK from Las Vegas. That's a legit statement for Euro sports mainly. If you bet US sports you can still bet the lines (and they are great lines because no one bets to affect them). I got the superbowl at the Opening line last year...Colts still blew it.
