now you are trying way too hard!
you can bet a team to win straight up ALL THE TIME...BUT you likely wont be getting even(or better) money for the win, you bet $100 to win $110 total if its a lopsided game!
I dont bet so dont bust my balls if my next example is off:
lets say you bet tennis, nadal to beat some no name guy...i dont think he has to win by 3 sets and shut the guy out, he just has to win but you get like a couple bucks on top of your original bet...so its not really worthwhile
so do you get it now Mr. PickEm? Im sure youve understood this the whole time but you wanted to bust a dudes balls who obv doesnt know much about sports betting and make it seem like hes an idiot...this is a POKER forum and not a general gambling one, i think you can be Mr. PickEm knowitall if you keep scrolling down on the homepage of the forum
edit: from wikipedia
Run line, puck line or goal line bets. These are wagers offered as alternatives to straight-up/moneyline prices in baseball, hockey or soccer, respectively. These bets feature a fixed point spread that (usually) offers a higher payout for the favorite and a lower payout for the underdog (both in comparison to the moneyline).
