It wasn't a good joke (in fact it was an extremely bad taste joke in the circumstances), but it was obviously intended as such. By trying to insist it was a serious comment, you allow people to dismiss the incident rather than consider what kind of man would make such a joke at such a time.

How many of them did Bill Clinton call?

White House Addresses Trump’s Unorthodox Call to Preet Bharara

WASHINGTON — The White House offered an explanation on Sunday for a mysterious phone call that President Trump placed to Preet Bharara a day before abruptly dismissing him and 45 other United States attorneys, saying the president was merely trying to extend his good wishes.

But Mr. Bharara indicated on Sunday evening in a statement to The New York Times that he was skeptical of the White House account, although he did not offer an alternative explanation for the president’s call.

The call, placed on Thursday to the office of Mr. Bharara, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, by a personal assistant to the president, concerned Mr. Bharara because it seemed to be at odds with ethics protocols restricting communications between the White House and prosecutors. Mr. Bharara declined to return the call. But the White House said there was nothing untoward about it.

“The president reached out to Preet Bharara on Thursday to thank him for his service and to wish him good luck,” Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a White House spokeswoman, said in an email.

That account left many questions about the firing of Mr. Bharara, who was told by Mr. Trump during the transition period that he would be retained. Some Democrats accused Mr. Trump on Sunday of seeking to deter aggressive federal investigations on Wall Street and elsewhere.

All that matters is if the person that makes the joke claims the KKK did nothing wrong. If you ask him if he supports the KKK and he seriously says yes, then my interpretation of it being a joke makes no sense, but if he says no, then it's just a dark humor joke that may or may not be motivated by actual racism.

If you are not an actual racist, you don't find "dark humor" with racist undertones funny.

Flat out false. Is everyone thats a fan of family guy, dave chapelle, etc. a racist? Do you deny these have dark humor thats on the surface racist? What if someone makes a racist joke about their own race? Dave chapelle does that all the time.

Perhaps I should have added "when it is coming from a person in a position of authority".

No not everyone who likes Family Guy is racist, although I'd suspect quite a lot of them are, given most people have latent racist tendencies.

lol @ thinking scale doesn't matter with analogies. Being a racist isn't nearly as bad as supporting a rival sports team so your analogy trivializes the lived experience of real sports fans.

Cooozy, Dave Chapelle isn't a racist but Clayton Bigsby is.

Edit: I missed the second part of that, not sure if you're first part is a real argument. Pretty funny though. Either way I'll stop posting itt.

It's largely irrelevant in the context of that analogy as well as most others. For example:

Quote:
Just as a sword is the weapon of a warrior, a pen is the weapon of a writer.
Is killing someone with a sword as serious as a criticism in writing? No, but the analogy is not designed to demonstrate that so it's irrelevant. I'm sure you can see what that analogy demonstrates and why I think it's irrelevant that those things aren't as serious. It's the same with the analogy I presented.

If you google analogy, good luck finding more than 5% that are same scale. It's because it's usually irrelevant.

Why would they be? Both suspended, and having eyes full of snowflake tears.

an impeachment process would require republicans to actually commence a meaningful investigation into corruption/impropriety, which they are clearly not interested in.

the idea that republican senators and the GOP in general share no blame for this sorry state of affairs that we are in, is an unbelievably scorching hawt take

anyway i'm done commenting on non-poker related ****ery itt

Federal ipoker is never happening, regardless of who is in office,no one gaf,it will remain a states rights issue. To the progressive drones among us,when exactly is the ''anyone who disagrees with us is stupid and racist'' strategy going to payoff?

The republicans control both houses and the white house, yet their agenda is hamstrung by a ADHD afflicted dolt who can't write a presidential order that can withstand judicial review, or stay off twitter. Trump is starting off as one of the least popular presidents in history, and many republican politicians hate him. It's not going to take much to convince Paul Ryan to get the ball rolling.

It's getting near time to bust out the play-doh and coloring books. That's how they deal when an opposing view surfaces....that and scream racism.

Sometimes even the same idea coming from liberals and conservatives elicits vastly differing responses.

Obama 2012: "We say it so often, we sometimes forget what it means — we are a nation of immigrants. Unless you are one of the first Americans, a Native American, we are all descended from folks who came from someplace else — whether they arrived on the Mayflower or on a slave ship...."

[one of numerous examples where Obama referred to slaves as immigrants]

Liberal reaction: crickets

Ben Carson 2017: "That's what America is about, a land of dreams and opportunity," Carson said. "There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships....."

Liberal reaction: calls for Carson to be fired/resign.

If the snowflakes didn't have double standards, they'd have no standards at all.

So all you guys white knighting for Sessions are happy with an AG with a 20-year history of fighting against online gambling and a president whose biggest contributer is the most prominent online gambling opponent in the world?

Liberals and conservatives are equally foolish among common citizens. This is why I mostly stay the **** away from politics. There's so much animosity and hatred behind it. People can't just have intelligent discourse, it's all about ego and judgements based on emotion from both sides.

Not to do the job of mods, but let's keep the ridiculous partisan ******** that doesn't even remotely relate to poker out of the thread.
