I don't mind actually. 95% of spanish players were just ratholers anyway, and since veryone there is jobless there wasnt that many big whales anyway.

Re: New Spanish poker regulation

Additional details of the new regulations:
Cash games are allowed up to and including 5/10 EUR blinds.
Tournaments are allowed up to and including 250 EUR buy-in.

I'll have more in the near future.

Re: New Spanish poker regulation

Steve - will players that live in Europe and have bank account in Europe be allowed to play on pokerstars.es the same way they can play on pokerstars.fr? Or will it be closed to people living in Spain the same way Pokerstars.it is only for people living in Italy?

like a pokerstars.eu for all those new regulated countries.
it would probably pretty easy if govt had a clue

You want to regulate, go ahead, but make sure the rake stays low and the player pools open. Otherwise this game cannot thrive.

die hard, is there anything that might suggest this would actually happen?

its no use us players just venting on message boards, we have to mobilize ourselves and tell the government how we feel. sure, they might not listen, but its imperative all govts know our position.

and is pokerstars/ whoever even actively looking at this/ lobbying for this? looks like before long we will all be completely screwed. poker cannot survive like this.

Re: New Spanish poker regulation

The best we can hope is that after regulation things slowly converge to a .eu solution (that is, if EU itself is still viable which is not a 100% certainty as it was a couple of years ago) but I think it will be a long desert walk until that happens

It's just sad to see that globalization is only good to take our jobs, to impose us all kinds of trade and production limits (inside E.U at least), to put our financial system to its knees and dependent of some ******g rating coming from abroad that moves wherever it wants to move regardless of whatever we do, etc, etc

It's really hard to be optimistic about anything thats going on in the world today, the truth is that the big feck up came from the very top (read the world financial sector, also read big businesses) and it will slowly contaminate everything thats below it, the online poker is just another of its victims

Spanish players can go to Portugal (and I know a few are) but how long that will last is unknown, at least in Portugal the market is so small that a move like Spain is doing would result in its extinction for sure, one can only hope that our usual incompetent political leaders notice that

yes, please a quick answer on this.

and: suppose you live in spain and move to another (EU) country a month or so after jan 1st. you just have to send in a new address and you'll be registered as a player in that country and hence will be able to play on .com again?

+1. It's our only chance at having a healthy industry.. Pokerstars is the only group out there with the money and incentives to lobby these governments... As we see in the news every day, the "People" have very little say in what actually goes on in their country.

Re: New Spanish poker regulation

I've never understood why it is that player pools need to be segregated just to control taxes per country. Why is it that spain, france, italy etc can't tax pokerstars/individual players just through pokerstars.com?
