EV isn't everything - you really need to be able to back it up with the volume to actually realise it.

I mean - if all the money in the world you owned, at the age of 50, including your house, car, etc - your entire net worth, was $1M and someone offerred you a bet:

Pick a number between 1 and 50, you have to stake the whole $1M. Anyway, a wheel spins and randomly lands on a number, from 1 to 50. If you get the right number, well then you get $1,000,500.

So - that is +EV. But if all you have is $1M and that is everything it took your whole life to build, it's not worth staking that for the chance at realising that tiny bit of expected value.

Now sure - if you had many, many billions of dollars, then you should take that bet all day long, take it every moment of every day until you have all the money in the world (save for the most horrible run-bad in existence that sends you broke).

But it's a basic bankroll management principle; Expected Value doesn't mean **** if you're not rolled to realise the value expectation.

his articulation needs work but what he is trying to say is the law of diminish return. If you were hungry you would pay 10$ for a burger but after 6 burger you are pretty full and if someone offers to give you 10$ to eat a 7th burger you will most likely pass since you are already full but you would be more than happy to pay for the 1st burger. The first million is worth more than the 2nd million, the 2nd million is worth more than the 3rd etc etc

also lol @ nits who says to spin once every 12 hours, obv its +ev but not trying to hit the jackpot at 500k come on. if you win its life changing money for 99.9% of people and also its +ev to spin at 500k. I would risk money at 0ev or slightly -ev to hit life changing money let a lone something that is +ev.

If you question the deal, kinda hard to trust online poker. I understand there might be a percentage that it could be rigged I don't doubt it but what I'm saying is if it's not rigged who wouldn't gamble in that spot

Except peoples starcoins are usually a tiny fraction of their net worth.

For the $10-100 in value most casual players have sitting around it's a fun diversion that had an expected return of about 3x the value of your wagers.

I haven't read any of this thread, but I played The Deal a few times and I think they screwed up by making it almost impossible to have any small wins. You either just sat and burned away your VIP points, or 1 in a million times you got lucky and won the jackpot. No fun.

Guess 'The Deal' may not be everybody's cup of tea - but for anybody who has been looking for it the last couple of days, there's a great thread in the Internet section that has an explanation for its disappearance, and some helpful tips

Never got to play it being from the UK but still made a profit off it.
Was playing low limit 8 game and some guy sat down, and proceeded to pot/bet/jam every possible street in every game.
Was wondering what was going on, maybe just some whale looking to donate, then when I moused over his name, it said The Deal winner. Got talking to him, said he'd won $127k. He kept challenging everyone to play 10/20 HU, which was unlikely considering we were at a 1/2 table
Seemed like a nice guy though.

Just wanted to say that this post was highly appreciated in highlighting to me that UK players were unable to play The Deal. This has now been resolved and The Deal is available on the UK client.
