Yeah, i understand that, but it would be interesting to watch a poker show with the elite internet guys, at least for me.

Moreover, and I say this as a recreational player, which do you think is going to draw more viewers and eventually players to the game?
Laak's antics in the middle of a hand or internet players with their head phones on?
[x] So-called "named" pros make for better tv, obv. And that's good for everybody.
P.S. As a player I like the headier play with less theatrics, as well. But its GameShow Network, not Education TV.

Re: New Negreanu Interview; Tweets: "they twisted everthing"
Great article. DN is absolutely right. Why do you think PS is paying him the big bucks? Because of his ability to triple range merge? Or because he comes across on TV as a nice guy, a personality, someone you'd like to play poker with? Even Helmuth has figured this out. He's worth millions because of his personality. If he had to live on poker alone he'd be broke.
It's TV that feeds the poker machine. It attracts more fish to the game, brings in the money, and it all trickles up to the big players.
On the other hand, I think there are plenty of players who do well on TV. And besides, the old pros are still around. Who's the replacement for Doyle Brunson? How about Doyle Brunson? He's still fun to watch. If Cates is crap on TV (don't know, never seen him play live), who cares? Antonio is still around, Tony G is still kickin' it, what's the problem? I don't get tired of watching Tiger play golf, why should I bother that Durrr is once again playing on TV? Or even Matusow?
Oh, and bring back Sammy to TV poker! I loved HS Poker with him. Where is that guy now, anyway?

Yes Danial is sometimes a tool, but he's an honest one. If someone only has fluffy friendly things to say all the time they are likely not trustworthy. I agree with most things he says, especially what he said about the unsociable internet generation who do not know how to interact in the live games.

Re: New Negreanu Interview; Tweets: "they twisted everthing"
I think DN still comes off very well from this interview, hes unhappy at being misquoted, but there isnt anything we didnt know already.. I still find the whole "internet kid" argument had been done before though. I would much rather watch interesting players who are also good at poker, regardless of their age or life story!! Watching Mikey Mattusow implode and blow his Full Tilt wages just isnt funny anymore!

Daniel, if you are reading this...please do not trust accountants to pay your taxes for you. Make all checks received only payable to you and then pay the IRS direct, never let anyone have access to your accounts etc. Just some words of wisdom if you don't want to go broke to scoundrels. (No I haven't had this happen to me either) BOL this year.

Re: New Negreanu Interview; Tweets: "they twisted everthing"
I was interviewed by a reporter doing a story about internet poker kids and my words were taken completely out of context. I really don't want to do another interview ever again. I'm not sure what I'll do when I become a top pro. Prolly stick to cash games, avoid interviews, and be very non-descript when I do have an interview.

Re: New Negreanu Interview; Tweets: "they twisted everthing"
I agree with Daniel that last year's WSOP coverage was worse than previous years, but I don't think it is primarily because of the player pool being different. The problem was that ESPN focused so much energy on their live coverage, that when it came time to create the edited-down broadcasts, they didn't have all the fun footage from outer tables that they had in previous years.
I mean sure as the player pool gets tougher you are going to get fewer clowns in chicken suits, and fewer absurd characters in general given what poker expertise requires, but you will still have drama, and the onus is on ESPN to find it.
