He was most likely a SSNL to MSNL grinder by the time everything blew up. Think about it this way.

He's been playing for a little over a year, throws that post out on 2p2 to see if it sticks. No names are mentioned so it's of little consequence to him just yet. Perhaps DIH put him up to it as a prop bet to see if NVG would believe it. He had finally networked into poker's upper echelon, Cates and Qureshi, and with that backing it would stick. Cates submits his post and voila, instant fame. More so than Cates was receiving at the time because the limelight was on Hastings and Blom while Cates is more reclusive.

Now from late January to April 15, that's 2.5 months of hype then BF hits. At this point Quershi and Cates need leverage to continue to play and they have their outlet, Jose. Quershi was probably already using that leverage to play on euro sites because he couldn't find opponents on FTP/PS and those sites have better security and a tight community on 2p2 (remember Townsend).

Then comes the scandal and everything is shattered.

What a scum bag.

pretty much looks like dih and jm were using girah to multi account and play on euro sites through vpn. dih has a hand in hyping this kid up and when jose goes rogue he spoils all the fun.

In the video Noah posted in the HSNL thread, Jose says his $30.00 deposit was on Betfair. He also says his Mum was alarmed when she saw the CC BILLS. In the Peligro Email, he says he deposited on FTP and only made one deposit. The kid just lies.....I don't care what he says or when he says it, you just can't believe him.

The x may be that Sauce has been talking to Jose', and has all the details of what DIH and JM were telling this kid. The friend that Jose' referred to that ask him to sweat the group may well be DIH. Can't help but think that is what is coming. Maybe in the morning we'll be having eggs and sauce x and DIH toast.

It all seems a bit weird/bit of a fantasy.

Maybe (hopefully) in a few years he will mature and be alright. His scam was stupid, at least (hopefully) everyone got paid back.
Someone else pointed out that they saw Jose use what they considered to possibly be a Dutch abbreviation in one of the Skype logs posted ("IDD" iirc? shorthand for MSN messenger apparently). Pretty weird but could be a coincidence ldo.

Nice catches Ce1ska. I seriously can't imagine any motive for him to lie in his email to me, so I imagine he started editing his bio after he started gaining some notoriety (and after meeting DIH presumably?)

Oh, for people who were interested in his screen names, here is his pokerstars screen name (I kid you not): жæ¦ßç¥×ؤ©µ

[12/6/2009 10:02:29 PM] josé maria macedo: My uncle
[12/6/2009 10:02:37 PM] josé maria macedo: Has a friend who plays poker
[12/6/2009 10:02:40 PM] josé maria macedo: One of the best in portugal
[12/6/2009 10:02:44 PM] Jon Ettinger: ah
[12/6/2009 10:03:25 PM] josé maria macedo: Yes
[12/6/2009 10:03:27 PM] josé maria macedo: Henrique Pinho
[12/6/2009 10:03:32 PM] josé maria macedo: You might've heard of him
[12/6/2009 10:03:35 PM] josé maria macedo: Team PokerStars
[12/6/2009 10:04:31 PM] josé maria macedo: He makes a living from Poker

Possibly the same uncle that scammed him?

Could have had Dutch friends at school or something. Obviously anything I write is pure speculation, but clearly he has been stupid, and the whole thing just makes me think he is easily manipulated or easily led or something. I am not accusing the DiH guy of doing that - I have no idea - I am just saying that certain personality types can end up being led astray easily without anyone meaning that to happen. Or something. It is easy for things to end up getting out of hand.

This is one of Jose's original screen name's? How do you know this? And isn't this huge information that verifies a ton of theories (that, at this point, were basically assumed to be true anyway)?

$-513 over 11k hands, wow. Obv he can have multiple accounts, but come on.

If жæ¦ßç¥×ؤ©µ is his pokerstars account, he had a less than a month play on it and lost his little @$$. Dec. 09 to Jan 10. And by no means does he look like a prodigy.

Been watching this unfold all day on my phone.

Why are we not asking Lock Poker for hand histories regarding the Lock Challenge that Girah apparently won just days before it ended?

One of their (former) sponsors has been caught cheating, and the manner in which he won the Lock Challenge is highly suspicious. Shouldn't we be demanding that Lock clear this up with HH's and any other relevant information.

At the very least they could give all relevant informayion to a non-biased third party.

DID's prodigy fairytale

If he was 15 in Nov 2009, then he'd only be 17 (or 16) now. So, that gives him a reason to lie about when he was born.

But, it's pretty absurd to be underage and lying about it while trying to become a sponsored pro for a site (which would prob check ID on cashout) and making videos of yourself and using your real name (obv any schmoe who knows him could see him and realize that he's too young to play poker.)

Most likely explanation. Also him running around asking people for HU challenges (mainly vs durrr) sounds a lot like Jungleman would play. Not sure how good DIH is at poker but he'd probably get crushed vs durrrr.
