One thing you can say about Las Vegas’ biggest newspaper. It doesn’t kowtow to probably the two most powerful men in the city. Here are some unflattering articles about the two men who are against online gaming.

Long time Review Journal columnist John L. Smith wrote this in May in his article "Four days on the stand grind on Sheldon Adelson"

"The PR nightmare got worse as media outside Nevada picked up on the story. Some of the more memorable headlines:
From the Forward: “Could Sheldon Adelson Empire Be Toppled by a Lawsuit?”
From The Guardian: “Sheldon Adelson faces new scrutiny as documents challenge his testimony.”
From Jewish Business News, “Sheldon Adelson On The Hot Seat For Organized Crime Ties At His Macau Casinos.”
From the Jerusalem Post: “Think about it: Sheldon Adelson and democracy.”
And added: “Adelson’s ties to Chinese mafia could spell downfall.”
From Haaretz: “Adelson facing allegations of links to Chinese organized crime.”...
...Quoting Jacobs’ deposition: “Did I report the activities of some of the specific allegations that Sheldon Adelson was personally involved in wrongdoing, illegal and immoral activities, you bet." "

The above articles was before Adelson secretly backed the 140 million dollar purchase of Vegas' largest newspaper, the Review Journal. Now it looks like the best place to find investigative reporting on Adelson is Mother Jones Magazine. This month it has an in-depth article on Adelson by Matt Issacs entitled "The inside story of Chinese Casino money flooding into our elections".

The article states that Steve Jacobs (who has filed a wrongful termination claim against Adelson) claims his home was burglarized and that a computer hard drive was taken from a coffee maker where he had it hidden.

Here is an excerpt from the article regarding the Steve Jacobs lawsuit which will go to trial in June.

..."This case will never be settled," Adelson has vowed, and he's kept his word through more than five years of bruising and reputation-staining proceedings. As the billionaire promised reporters in Macau, "When we win the case, we will go after him in a way that he won't forget."

Are we sure Jacobs is going to make it to/through a trial?

Not even trying to be funny either.

I would be seriously looking into measures that ensure my safety if I were Jacobs.

The New York Times reports that Adelson is making a contribution to Donald Trump's campaign that could exceed 100 million dollars:

Well, The Las Vegas Sands Corp. just burned through 75 million by settling the wrongful termination suit mentioned above:

Does anyone know if Vegas' biggest newspaper (which is now backed by Adelson) even reported the settlement?

Yes, they reported it on the very same date (May 31) as the article you linked to above. The one big difference is that the LVRJ article states that it was a confidential agreement so the terms weren't disclosed, whereas the WSJ article quotes an unnamed "person familiar with the matter" who states that the settlement was for $75 million.

In my opinion, Adelson and the Sands Corp. had to be worried about a hell of a lot more than just a wrongful termination case for the Sands to be willing to fork out 75 million.

More forking out money. This time 7 million and 9 million.

I wish Adelson would spend more time worrying about possible corruption in his own business and less about how things like internet gaming might affect others.

"The health of Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino owner and one of the biggest donors to Republicans, is “dire,” according to his lawyer..."

Oh dear, poor Sheldon is not doing well. Pray for him everyone.

Let’s just say he won’t be missed by poker players.

I hope this is good news for online poker.

Even tho he did a lot of bad for the online poker community being happy about his upcoming death is a pretty low thing to do. You guys are better than that

Who somebody is in life, becomes their legacy in death, nothing more nothing less.

is he dead yet?

I always rely on Lawyers for a medical diagnosis. Especially if it is about their client who doesn't want to testify in a trial.

My grand parents were happy when Hitler died. I’m rooting for Sheldon to suffer some first. Like really hurt, then pass alone..

He personified evil and everything that is wrong with out world and country. He ruined lives. His drugs of choice were greed, asking money his descendants can never spend at the expense of others and making people suffer as a sport.

If I’m out when he dcends on hell, I’ll be buying shots for the bar.

people that talk like this always annoy me. "rooting" for someones death doesnt really accomplish much of anything but if people suck anti-sweating their ****ty policies, even if via death, seems more than fine.

personally, i don't know enough about the situation / sheldon to make any informed opinion though.

At one time in his life, Alfred Nobel was best known for inventing dynamite and other armaments. One day a newspaper mistakenly reported his death, and he got the rare opportunity to read his own obituary. He was to be remembered as "the Merchant of Death".

This compelled him to put his entire fortune toward the Nobel Prizes. Now he's best known for that.

I don't really see the point in sugarcoating the legacies of people just because they're dying or have recently died.

He's a really bad person besides opposing online poker. He has been one of the most destructive forces over the last generation in American politics. The world will instantly be a better place when he is dead.

maybe Poker Go will live stream his death? ill subscribe for that.

Might just be wording by you, but can you quote anyone itt, as of your post who "sugarcoated" his legacy?

Really looks like people are just rooting, literally, for a person to suffer and/or die.

Making what you said irrelevant.

Obv he was horrible for online poker, but people acting excited for pain/tragedy itt is aids.

Would be fine with people arguing his politics/policies, not psychical pain.
