So yes, I think this is awful, but at the same time I guess I'm a hypocrite cuz I am buying in day 2 of MM, however I am only firing 2 (if necessary) instead of 3 bullets in the WPT and not buying in day 2 because of it.
The WSOP did do something gimmicky. They had an unlimited reentry tournament. I don't remember the number, but Daniel bought in a bunch of times. It became known as the "buy a bracelet" tournament, and the WSOP was so embarrased that they dropped the tournament from the lineup.

1. they USED to have rebuys, but they do not anymore. no one "bought" a bracelet. believe it or not, having 20x the starting stack in the first three levels of a huge 1,000 player field doesn't guarantee you a ****ing bracelet. whoever tried to make this argument isn't intelligent at all.

2. they still have a couple of reentry events but only one of them is unlimited. no one is arguing that anyone is buying a bracelet.

3. the wsop dropped the rebuy events because of security concerns. there was no oversight and a lot of rumors of floormen pocketing rebuy chips. it pretty much had to end without any sort of technological oversight. as a result you don't really see too many live rebuy events anymore, and a ton of reentry events.

Mo,

Can we get a full list of direct day 2 buyins for the CPPT? I only found notables listed and it would be interesting who made it deep that direct bought in. Amit is at least one.

I don't know that anyone spefically made that arugment. After word got out that DN had 13 rebuys, "buy a bracelet tournament" just kind of became a nickname that stuck. I haven't heard it attributed to anyone.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, it sounds like a Norman Chad one-liner.

Rebuy / Re-entry tournaments is not good for the overall health of the poker game.

local casino is running one of these this weekend but the chip values vary like crazy and highly incentivize you to buyin on day 2..How is this fair to people playing day 1s, and how does it pass state gaming regs?

>1 rebuy, Stacks forward, QR etc.etc. are all just gimmicks that enable the once-innocent-underaged-lazy-teen-turned-greedy-degenerate-ego-monkey to have an edge... thus better ensuring the likelihood of reaching/maintaining his/her coveted "Baller" status .

IMHO

Pala Casino has made the worst poker room decisions in recent months.

From the ridiculous side bets https://www.palacasino.com/poker_pro...ot-poker-spot/ now offered to this stupid quantum reload tournament.

I know I'll be playing this Saturday at Oceans 11 weekend 10K guaranteed deepstack tournament..not this garbage that Pala is shilling..

I'll be playing Pala bird buying on on day 2. I much prefer the room but the hour drive compared to 15 to oceans isn't great. I think they really have to try some new stuff to attract a crowd since their location is so out there. They have Oceans cutting off them from the west, Pechanga cutting them off from the north, Harrahs cutting them off from Escondido so it's not like they have a real base to pull from... If you were running a poker room in that spot I'm sure you'd do some gimmicky stuff too.

That said, usually QR tourneys are opposite of this with players paying more per chip when entering the day 2 flights.. Why would you want to penalize the players playing the lower buyins? Like, hey, come play this tournament! You'll be paying 2x more for each chip and you also have to play 10 hours on day 1!

Is the Pala quantum tournament happening? Was thinking of going on Sunday but the tournament structure sheet seems to have mysteriously disappeared from the web site.
