Re: Open Letter to Mason Malmuth (from Dan Druff)

Suzzer, I'm not a NWP poster guy. I read the site occasionally like other 2+2's for laughs, like when that fool Micon got ripped off. I find myself reading it more now to find out about this ongoing DS brandi drama. The Annette thread didnt come down until someone pointed it out to Mason. If this whole DS Brandi thing didnt hit the fan odds are it probably never would have.
I understand Masons point of view-its his site and he can do what
he likes here. Brandi was like the poker worlds heroin-terrible for you but you were addicted. The thing is that Mason looks kinda hipocritical here-DS brags about making money off of Brandi
(50K), but then when it gets out of hand he starts banning people. The Annette thread isnt the only one that doesnt meet 2+2's now enforced standards-a poster used it as an example so it was deleted. Look at the amount of views on this and the banning thread-gotta be the most popular thing goin on. I just think that people are afraid to post in a GOSSIP forum for fear of getting banned....and that is sad.

The Amy Fisher thing on Thursday is a good example of that.

Just not seeing this at all.

Brandi was clearly posting Sklansky's private emails without his consent, in an attempt to blackmail him via her threats to cast his relationship in a highly unflattering light.

NWP, by posting those emails, not only facilitated that blackmail attempt, but actually acted as co-conspirators -- publishing things that, here in the UK at least, would almost certainly be enough to win a libel action against them -- solely in an attempt to drive traffic.

I like Druff's posts, and he seems like a decent enough guy, but his name is on the masthead, so he gets to take responsibility for what his site publishes.

Can anyone who's afraid to post in NVG please speak up, and give a rough idea of what you want to post that you fear will get you banned?

Re: Open Letter to Mason Malmuth (from Dan Druff)

how can anyone compare bbv4l to NWP?
40% of BBv4l threads are just useless banter
20% are funny level type of threads
10% are funny non level threads
10% are NSFW/ offensive
5% are threads about how cool dids is
5% are threads made by a few BBV4L regs that are incomprehensible
9% = miscellaneous
1% = high quality threads by John Voight

From what I remember, most of the stuff on NWP can be offensive mainly due to the replies. A lot of ppl just seem to post offensive stuff in each thread, regardless if they are joking or serious.

IMO if u think BBV4L is very offensive IMO you dont read it enough/ understand it.

If the site owners get banned just for owning the site then you should also ban those that regularly visit the site for supporting it.

so you want druff to play forum cop on an uncensored forum?? maybe later when he is done he can take names for the class when the teacher is away or better yet be a hall room monitor. druff didnt post any of this information , so why hold him accountable? its micons site, if anybody deserves the backlash its him. druff doesnt really run much at nwp. also if he takes down stuff like that , he catches hell from all of nwp for being a "cop". it shouldnt matter that he is affiliated with nwp so as long as he abides by the rules of 2+2 , which he has. this is just a cover up under the guise of a forum cleanup.

I've popped around NWP a few times, and I'm pretty sure that I'd delete around 40% of the posts there. Comparing it to BBV4L is a bit incorrect.

Re: Open Letter to Mason Malmuth (from Dan Druff)

Late in 2006, Sklansky offered a wager to Christian fundamentalists. Contestants would first have to pass a lie detector test affirming their absolute certainty that Jesus was resurrected from the dead and that everyone who didn't believe this would go to hell. Anyone who passed the polygraph would be eligible to wager $50,000 on an attempt to outscore Sklansky on the math SAT, taken in half the usual time. The idea was to prove, in Sklansky's words, that "Fundamentalists are at least 10 times less likely than Asians, Jews, or atheists to be scientifically brilliant."

"Their beliefs make them relatively stupid (or uninterested in learning). Or only relatively stupid people can come to such beliefs. One or the other. That is my contention. And this challenge might help demonstrate that."

So basically he is saying that fundamentalists are idiots. Yeah, that DS is a great guy. Lets not ban him.

For the record, I'm not religious, but it still doesn't make it right for him call out a group of people like this. He pissed off a lot of people and later called it a publicity stunt. So I guess it acceptable for DS pull off a tasteless publicity stunt if it benefits 2+2 in some way. some would say that allowing this type of behavior on 2+2 would classify this site as a hate site as well.

What would be a better challenge would be on the verbal/writing section. I've read his books and granted he knows his stuff about poker, but he is a horrid writer. Does that make him stupid?

He choses to challenge a specific group of people to a "math" contest, which is what he excels at the most in this world. Once the folks pass the lie detector test, why not let them chose the test. It could be a test on writing, history, literature, biology, philosophy, or whatever. Let them chose the area they excel in the most and see if he could beat them.

David Sklansky has said, "...I can say that every female I ever had a relationship with, including the young ones, does not regret it to this day (including that stripper...)" - Again, great guy

and he has admitted (on this forum) to twice cheating at poker.

and Dan Druff gets banned? Wow

Re: Open Letter to Mason Malmuth (from Dan Druff)

Mason,

Last year I spent some time reading posts on NWP and was shocked at the amount of vitriol and hate there but I never associated it with Todd when he posted here. In fact I have an overall good attitude about him from his posts on 2+2.

I understand your concern about having 2+2's name dragged through the proverbial mud by association but Todd is a well known poker figure and his posting here adds a certain credence to 2+2. I don't believe that it detracts from your site. He is not a "hundred post a day" kind of guy.

Now that things have settled down a bit I'd like to see his ban reversed.

Cheers,

Rotter "The" Sod

Re: Open Letter to Mason Malmuth (from Dan Druff)

So wait wait wait wait......Druff was banned for nothing other than being an owner of a site that Mason decided he doesn't like all of a sudden?

Yikes

Although, this sounds like a fair trade since Micon was banned too.
