Ya their minions are probably doing this. I guess we need to donate 100k to his campaign. These politicians are pure scum of the earth.

Done! I've posted everywhere. I would also like to share something, it took awhile but I finally received an email reply from one of my senators, Johnny Isakson. Unlike the response from my congressmen Phil Gingrey, Senator Isakson states that there is no federal law that prohibits online poker. Congressman Gingrey's email stated online poker was "illegal". Nice to know at least one of my representatives has a brain in his head.

Senator Isakson's FB page is: http://www.facebook.com/isakson?ref=ts
he doesn't have open wall posting but I've posted comments in other posts. Senator Isakson has always been fairly moderate on moral issues and may be a good chance for a republican 'yes' vote when a poker bill comes before the senate so please email and/or FB post to him.

Congressman Gingrey's FB page is: http://www.facebook.com/RepPhilGingrey
again no open wall posting but feel free to post comments. He's pretty anti-gambling but maybe we can change his mind about poker.

Senator Isakson's email:

Dear Mrs. Nichols:

Thank you for contacting me regarding online poker and gaming. I appreciate hearing from you and I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.

As you may know there is no federal law that prohibits the play of online poker. On April 15, 2011, the Department of Justice shut down well-known online poker web sites and seized player money on those sites. Rep. John Campbell (R-CA) has introduced H.R. 1174, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act, to clarify the legality of online wagering with a federally-licensed operator and to create a federal regulatory framework in which internet gambling operators would be able to obtain federal licenses from the Department of Treasury authorizing them to accept wagers over the internet from individuals in the United States. No similar legislation is currently pending in the United States Senate, but should such legislation come before me for a vote I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please visit my webpage at http://isakson.senate.gov/ for more information on the issues important to you and to sign up for my e-newsletter.

Sincerely,
Johnny Isakson
United States Senator

Glad this is still picking up steam, I am pretty impressed so far with the efforts of the poker community. I hope we can continue the momentum since we have really bright people who can make things happen with some motivation. Our Congressmen definitely read these and encourage everyone spend a few minutes each day helping out.

We need more "likers" on these pages. Thanks! I'm not posting tonight, but am going through and liking these. BTW, Houston and Philadelphia don't appear to accept wall posts anymore? Or is it just me. Facebook is weirdly sometimes.

  1. Fox News Sunday is seeking input for questions for Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) for this Sunday's show. Let's upvote the poker questions and submit our own: http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/fox-ne...day/look-ahead
  2. The Daily Show is seeking input for story ideas. Let's ask them to cover our issue: http://forums.thedailyshow.com/?page...hread_id=40873
  3. Investor's Business Daily responded to a Facebook post requesting coverage of Black Friday, asking if others would like coverage. Let's reply affirmatively: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.ph...00000102517352
Recurring actions:

Let's continue to own a lot of Facebook pages (senators, Congressmen, Congressional committees, etc.). Rep. Barton has cited our Facebook posts, so we know it works.

  • The House Financial Services Committee's Facebook page is here.
  • Let's get some posts on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce page (here)
  • The Dept. of Justice's page is here.
  • Senators' FB pages: Senator Facebook Listing
  • We need lots of posts on the issue of poker and lots of "liking" of pro-poker comments.
Let's also all send the PPA pre-written letters to our lawmakers. These will be updated when Rep. Barton's poker bill is introduced to the House (in other words, soon), so let's all get the current letters out before that. Once done, please reply ITT with "done", "sent", etc. to encourage others. Thanks!

Finally, let's recruit others. Our personal recommendations of this effort will go far. The daily action plan takes very little time and there's no denying it's way +EV for the time invested. Once done, please post here that you made the request, along with posting your personal commitment to participate in the action plan. Seems like a reasonable and slightly favorable response, right?

This part is confusing, but seems slightly favorable:

I believe that the federal government should have the ability to oversee internet gambling, as it is nearly impossible to regulate, monitor or ensure participants are being fairly treated.
